Default Beware Driveway Painter

My wife and I had Roger and Patti (Professional Services Plus LLC) paint our lanai and garage floor on 12/24. They knocked on our door the previous day and gave us a quote which was reasonable.
They did a terrible job! Roger knew immediately that something was wrong and said that he would return in two days to take pics to submit to Lowes (the paint supplier) and that they would pay him to correct the mess. Of course he never came back nor will he return phone calls.
The paint was supposed to dry in a matter of hours but never has but after eight days I resorted to putting cardboard on the garage floor in order to get our car finally put away. It is now 30 days later and the floor is still tacky.
I should have known better as his business card does not have his last name nor an address. His invoice is nothing more than a pad of paper from Wal Mart
I would run the other way, if he knocks on your door even if he tells you that he has been doing business in The Villages for 20 years and that his grandfather was a good friend of Harold Schwartz.

Looks like you did. Don't do business with people that just knock on your door! You know what they say - You were looking for a good buy..... GOOD-BYE.

They'll keep knocking if they think 1 in 100 will say yes.

It is not just driveway painters...this seems crazy but before you do business with people no matter how nice they seem....copy their drivers license so you have their correct address and not a post office box.

Never Never Never never give money before the job is done. Good businesses will not ask for money up front and check with
Crime vs Seniors and ask how many complaints they have current and in the past. Remember a complaint that is closed does not mean a happy customer just someone who was too tired to fight anymore.

Moose gives some great advice.

On the good news side, I looked up Professional Services Plus LLC at the Florida Department of State and they are not a registered corporation or LLC in this state. Therefore, if you catch them, you can sue them.

I recommend you contact Seniors Vs Crime at either local sheriff's department for assistance. I'm not 100% sure but I think Patti ran another company locally called Home Services Plus.

Sorry to hear about your situation. That same individual did not complete a neihgbor's job and she was out $500. She went to Seniors Against Crime and he has warrants out for his arrest for fraud.

All the work I have had done was businesses referred by at least two people on Talk Of The Villages and have been very satisfied.

Default More about Roger and Patti

I am the person with the $500 that Roger took from me. Yup, too trusting and I never thought I would be "one of those old people" who would be scammed. I don't understand why Roger would need to be a scammer as he has talent and an eye for color. Wouldn't it be an amazing world if all the people who spent so much time figuring out how to scam and be rotten would actually funnel that into doing fine work? It would be awesome.

Default Dan Wall and Preston Greenwood

Heres two names of other painters not to trust...Dan Wall and Preston Greenwood. We gave them a deposit December 14th and they haven't done the work yet. They have until next Friday or I'm filing fraud charges against them both. I sure learned my lesson!

All three of your posts are the same. Please forgive me if I am wrong, but when I read all negative posts from the same person against the same contractor it makes me wonder.

I don't know know "Danny" as you call him or Preston either. And you have sewn seeds of doubt in my mind..but three posts on the same subject and no other posts at all really make me a little sceptical. Do you see where I am coming from?

Again, if I am wrong, I apologise. I would seek legal recourse in small claims court or check with Crimes Against Seniors.

I just have seen contractor bashing by other contractors who aren't doing so well on here.

Default driveway painters

I just figured that I'd put in a weekly complaint about them for every week they dont show up. As a matter of fact I'm home waiting for them again right now. They said at 1010 am that they would be here in half an hour. That was two hours ago. I've been going through this since 12/14th...promises promises promises. they have until friday to finish the job. I'm not contractor bashing without a reason and this is the site to do it on.

Nothing against Gracie Girl but this is the forum for letting people know contractors to beware of. You should check with Crimes against Seniors and ask how many complaints have been filed settled or unsettled.

I also am having trouble with a contractor and have not mentioned their names yet. It has been 2 months and I was comforted by knowing others were having the same problems and then all of a sudden all negative comments were removed from this board and only postive ones left. They also removed all posts and history of the people who were only trying to help others. I also lost my contacts with these people who were trying to help me.

I wrote administration twice and asked why this was done and the post was then locked with only positive comments. This forum is to help us from not getting taken.
