Default Sweetbay

I heard from several people that Sweetbay may be closing. Has anyone else heard this?
I also heard that it may become a bowling alley.

I wish Whole Foods would slide into its place. Or Katie Belle's II.

I don't know, Bright... I think it would make a wonderful barn for the buffalo! 1rnfl 1rnfl

Hmmmm...how about a small casino? That idea might shift the talk here away from politics for awhile.

That would be very refreshing, Bright, and I don't even gamble. Anything for a distraction these days :.

I hope not. We gone there (and three different Publix and Winn-Dixie) and liked them. It's good to have choices. And on 466 Whole Foods (??? or some food store). In Illinois we have multiple choices all nearby.

Just heard from a reliable source that Sweetbay will be closing. It has not been successful in attracting customers and making a profit.
The building will be transformed by the developer into a bowling alley complex.

That does not sound like a bad idea. With the number of bowlers it would be nice to see a bowling alley complex over in Sumter Landing.

If Sweetbay had not come in with such high prices for evereything, they may have done a better business.

I have heard the same rumor for the last several weeks. I hope it doesn't happen. It is so convenient for me to run over there on the cart. I must admit to not liking the store layout. I hate that area (in the bean row, I think) where you sort of get trapped. They still have lots of space by the hotel. I wonder what else will go there. There is also a large commercial area on 466 behind Bridgeport Lake Sumter.

I spoke to the store manager and they are NOT closing. It's a great store. Very convenient. And the hours are great. Stop spreading this rumor.

That is even better. I still want to get over there to see what Sweetbay has to offer. Although the Publix is 3 minutes by cart from my house.

I like Sweetbay and think their food and prices are better than Publix. Think we should patronize or Public will have an absolute monopoly. Plus friendly service.

I love Sweetbay.....I think they offer more options in their prepared foods area....also they have a GREAT deli turkey unlike the ones at Publix....I am very picky about my deli turkey for some reason and thus far.....even comparing to Too Jays and Boars Head....the turkey from the Sweetbay brand is much better !!! Don't leave....where would I get my turkey?

So happy to hear they're staying open! I love the Hannaford stores. Hannaford is the same chain as Sweetbay, just the Northern name for it. It will be nice to have something familiar from "home" once I relocate.
