Was advised that it was like a doctor's office, sometimes things take longer and we had to wait. After waiting for about 1.5 hours my car was taken into the shop. Several minutes later I noticed that my car was on a lift and the hood was open. When ask why the hood was open I was advised that it was their policy to inspect all vehicles prior to completing repairs. My response was that I just wanted the tire to be repaired, no inspection was necessary. (the vehicle was recently serviced by a Honda dealer and the tires were rotated) They insisted that their policy required that the complete the inspection due to potential liability issues. After a brief discussion they completed their inspection and began work on the tire. Several minutes later the technician doing the work came to the office area to advise the service writer that the tire had two nails and further that the wear was uneven and there was dry rot. A few minutes later a "senior" technician invited me to the service area to show me the uneven wear (non-existent), and the dry rot (also non-existent). He then advised me that they could not repair the tire and further that I needed four new tires. Using somewhat colorful language I advised them to remount the tire and return my vehicle to me. Several minutes later the technician drove my car out to the parking area where I was waiting. Based on the recommendations of another customer at Tire Choice I took my car to Sumter Tire on Rte 301. I was greeted in the parking lot by a technician, advised him that my tire had two nails in it. He directed me to a space near the building, used a hydraulic jack to lift the wheel, patched the two holes and I was out of there in about 20 minutes. Be careful where you take your car, some unscrupulous service companies target seniors and especially senior ladies. But that is another story.
On the "flip" side, when I had a nail in my tire, the Tire Choice off 466 repaired the tire within 15 minutes and no charge.

We never found out if he's still in business somewhere. He did excellent work at very fair prices.
Bobby’s wife works at tire choice, highly recommend them

I will definitely keep going there for auto work.
New to TV. Used Sumter Tire for a routine tire rotation and oil change, with me supplying the oil/filter.
I was charged $20 for the rotation, $40 for the oil change. NEVER AGAIN!
And the service took them far to long, after the tech had taken my car for the service.
My old shop charged $20 for that exact service. As I payed for their time.
Sumter Tire could have had a long term customer. But not at those prices.

My husband just had this very same experience there a few weeks ago. One nail in the tire. They said they had to inspect the car. He thought maybe a general visual inspection. They take it back and then he noticed the hood open and they were removing one of the filters. Then he saw them put up on the lift and start looking at the underside. He went over and asked what they were doing that he just wants the nail taken out and tire patched/plugged. They said it’s policy to inspect. He didn’t want them touching anything else. Who knows what they’re doing? He didn’t feel right about the situation. And he suspected they would tell him he needs 4 new tires. He immediately told them to take it down off the lift and give the keys back. After some heated back and forth with the service manager he got the keys back and left. I can’t remember if they charged him for anything. He went to another place. They took a look at the tire and had no problem fixing it with a plug. He’ll never go back to Colony Tire Choice.

I had the same experience at the 466 area store. I went out of the wait area and around the back to view the service area. Saw my vehicles on a lift and all 4 tires removed. I went back in and asked what the h. was going on.Got the same story, I let them know I was retired from the business and their explanation was a B/S story. I directed them to put the vehicle back together and left to never return. Their liability claim is bogus to say the least.

It may be too far (Ocala) but I've had consistently great experiences at Discount tire. Great service, reasonable prices, not trying to "upsell", etc. I had a nail cause a leak and, even though the tires weren't purchased from them, they repaired it at no charge. I've been with them many years now...so far with a few cars, a couple states, and they have been good to work with every time and every location.

We have had good experience at Sumter. Was oil change regular oil or synesthetic?

I discovered a slow leak in one of my tires two weeks ago while driving in Lady Lake. I called Sam's Club while I was at an appointment, Sam's Club tire department is impossible to reach by phone. Left a message and still have not received a call back. Drove across the street to BJ's, the mechanic told me I would have to come back in a couple of hours to get it fixed. He quoted me "about $45.00" to fix the leak. Drove to Sumter Tire south on my way home, told them of the situation and the fact that I had to pick up a family member in an hour, they took me right in, fixed the plug, and charged me $25.00. In and out in just a little over 30 minutes. Great service, fair price, nice people, newly remodeled (since the last time I was there) comfortable waiting area.

Been a few years ago at the same tire choice I had my from wheels aligned, next day drove to Ohio, got an oil change at a Firestone, they showed me my rack and pinion was bad, about an inch of sloop, I told them should they have caught that with the wheel alignment. The guy laughed said they took me. I haven’t been back since.

I purchased tires via tire rack and had them shipped to Colony. I had a appt and even asked if the time I chose was a busy time for the shop. Big mistake. After 3 hrs, I was told I needed rotors and other work worth over 2k. The mechanic told me it was a recommendation every 50k. I have never replaced rotors in any of my cars. I think the guy doing the inspection must make commissions on the repairs he sells. Of course, I refused and made my thoughts vocal to the desk guy.

I usually use Sumter Tire. Big mistake not having them shipped the tires there. I would have been in and out in less than an hour. That’s what I get for trying to save a few dollars.
