I think it is important to give positive feed back when warrented, instead of only posting complaints.
I had a set of 4 tires installed at Tire Kingdom on 441. I had only driven around the villages for about a month, and headed out to Orlando and had what appeared to be out of balance tires at speeds above 70 mph. I took my car in and then said they would take a look. My wheels are from 2003, and they are just worn out. They are so bad that the weights move around on the wheel. So they attempted to sand the spots where the weights would go and reblanced my wheels. Not once did they try to get out of helping me. They really made me feel good about dealing with them. I am in the process of now looking into inexpensive wheels since I will probably trade in the car in a year or so. Anyway, just telling a good story about a local business! ![]() |

Worn out wheels? This sounds a bit strange, I have never heard of anyone wearing out wheels, ever! Perhaps damaged wheels by hitting things, but never worn out wheels. Has anyone ever heard of this? Makes me wonder if it is the tires that are bad. I have heard some bad things about Tire Kingdom, people told they needed brakes when they didn't, people being told all their fluids needed replacement etc.

Maybe I used the wrong term, worn out wheels. They have been submitted to salt and sand from up north and you can actually see that the wheels are pitted and losing metal here and there. So they are in sad shape. I have been told in the past that they were in rough shape.

Sounds like you are talking about alloy wheels, which can get oxidized and pitted from years of salt exposure. (salted roads or coastal climate) In that case, "stick-on" weights might keep falling off.
Alloy wheels can be polished and reconditioned. I think that the place is trying to hit you for a full set of replacement wheels. Last edited by buzzy; 09-22-2012 at 12:13 PM. Reason: more typing |

Yes. You might want to hold up on that positive feedback. Sounds more like either they didn't do a good job of balancing your tires or the tires are out-of-round.

I had some experience with them last year. After pulling out of the softball parking lot on 466 I had a flat on my 2011 Mazda 3 hatchback left rear. It was less than a year old and the tires only had about 7500 miles on them. They are the low profile Yokohoma tires. I made it to the Shell station because the tire was low but not flat, I only knew about it because my car has a tire pressure alarm. I got air in the tire and I could see the nail. I forgot about the Tire Choice by Walmart, I just remembered the Tire Kingdom next to Kohls.
I pulled in and it began to pour rain very heavy. I told them could they pull the nail out and patch the tire. They came back and said the nail was too close to the edge to patch and they had my tire in stock. When it was all said and done, balance, stems, tax, etc it came to $189 for one tire at Tire Kingdom. |
