Default Window Films & Privacy Screening?

We have a new home with Palladium (arched top) windows that face West. In the mid afternoon, sun comes through and makes rooms hot and too bright to see computer screen.

We want something to block the heat of the sun (especially in the summer!!) and also to block the UV Rays but still want to be able to see out with no problems?

Anybody had any window films installed? I talked to some companies at the home show at Lk Miona last Fall, but didn't keep their info!!

ALSO...we need privacy screen on our lanai so that neighbors can't see in, BUT we can see out.

Any input and ideas and recommendations will be greatly appreciated!!

We have the same issue with the large window that faces west. We used 3M film installed by Underglass on 27/441 in Lady Lake. They did a beautiful job. It won't cut out all the heat but it noticeably decreased it.

Thanks for the info. Did it help with the intensity of the sun coming through? Did it make the room dark? Can you still see out as good as before the 3M installation?

It did seem to help with the intensity. There are different grades of film and tints. I chose the one with the least amount of tint, so there was little difference, before and after, with the view out the window. We have plantation shutters which can block off the harsh afternoon sun but we wanted to cut down on the UV attacking them and the furniture. We still have to adjust the shutters to keep the sunlight off the computer screen.

UGH...not what I wanted to hear. Guess I'll have to get some estimates and see what they all have to say.
