Called Rick Beck I might add prompt curtious servivce stop buy to check it out
His recommendation is buy a new one it would be cost prohibitive to repair.
My Question is where is a reputable place to buy appliances that would also install ?

I think all of the big box stores (Home Depot, Lowes, Sears) have installation service, at an added cost.

The same thing just happened to us, ours was a 5 yr old whirlpool as well......Home Depot has the best price, I installed it myself without an issue.

This has nothing to do with the life of the appliances, the quality or the price or the installation.

Just the style.

I am hearing that black stainless steel is the latest fashion.

I wondered what the "next best thing" was going to be.
One thing for sure, there's nice stainless and not so nice stainless all within the Whirlpool line. You get what you pay for.

If you can do the install or have someone do it for you I would check out Appliances - Discount Kitchen Appliances Online | Goedeker's I have purchased from them several times and they have the best prices. check the big box stores get the sale price and model number then look online. free delivery in most cases and NO sales tax in Florida

We are currently recommending Sears for Appliances. They do their own delivery, on time etc. They also keep their word.
We had weird experiences with two other local stores, they say they deliver, THEY DO NOT DELIVER, they just give you the number of another delivery firm and they are absolutely useless.

Our microwave died about a month ago and we ordered a new one online at Home Depot and called The Villages Home Depot to install it for us. Prompt and reasonably priced. Would deal with them again...

We replaced all of our kitchen appliances. Researched and found what we wanted. Before purchasing we shopped many stores in and around The Villages. the prices for the appliances were the same. The difference was in what they would charge for installation and what they would install.
for instance one store refused to install our refrigerator or dishwasher because they did not want to deal with the push/pull valves in The villages homes. another told us that they found some dishwashers that required extra work and extra charges because of the way the contractor initially installed them.

We went with the store that said no problem and in fact the install was well no problem

Wherever you buy, I have one suggestion......

If you buy a French-door refrigerator with an icemaker, spring for the extended warranty because I would bet good money that the icemaker will fail.

As much as it goes against our grain to buy an extended warranty, when it comes to refrigerators, we do.

We put in an Electrolux French-door with a kitchen remodel in 2010. After many attempts to fix the icemaker -- which had failed after a year -- the entire unit was replaced.

In a different house, our LG French-door icemaker failed after a year.

As much as I like French-door refrigerators, I don't think they have the engineering for the icemaker in the door figured out yet. Or is it simply built in by the manufacturers' not caring about the integrity of design in the rush to market and high profit.

(Hey! RickeyD, I forgot to quote your Post#5, but I agree completely with part of what you said......

There are variations in stainless. When the Electrolux was replaced, the counter-depth model had a vinyl side-wrap by that time instead of the full-stainless wrap like the first one we had. Electrolux had cheapened their design.

But, Rickey, I wish it were true that "you get what you pay for" as you say in the rest of your post. But, alas, it is more and more difficult to find quality in the manufacturing.....of most anything. But the prices go higher and higher.)

Anyway, OP, think about buying the extended warranty if you buy a new refrigerator, especially if it's a French-door with an icemaker.

We purchased a Whirpool fridge from HH Greg, including an extended warranty. However when we had a problem with water puddling on the floor in front of the freezer, it was much easier and quicker to call Alan Beck who showed up 90 minutes later and fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes for $90. In this instance we had a pretty good idea that the repair part was cheap

Since then a friend with an extended service contract from HHG had a problem with an ice maker. He described his experience as painful and frustrating. After dealing with HHG and their service subcontractor, it took close to 30 days after repeated service calls, parts ordered and replaced that didn't solve the problem, etc. before they agreed to replace the ice maker. The bottom line, we're lucky to have great appliance repair people available in TV. But it's also nice to have insurance with an extended service contract because some repairs involve replacing expensive circuit boards or other parts. It's a real gamble, and it may not be quick.
