AMEN. Have to wonder if this wasn’t just a case of the shoe being on the other foot. I also find it difficult to be friends with “individuals” (not “groups”) who don’t want my friendship.

—————

Newspapers across the US have dropped the comic strip Dilbert in response to racist comments made by its creator, Scott Adams.

Adams’ comments were in response to a poll that found 26% of Black people disagree with the phrase, “It’s OK to be white,” which prompted Adams to say,
“If nearly half of all Blacks are not OK with white people ... that’s a hate group. And I don’t want anything to do with them,” Adams said Wednesday. “And based on how things are going, the best advice I could give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people. Just get the f— away. Wherever you have to go, just get away. ’Cause there’s no fixing this. This can’t be fixed.”
I am very cautious every since democrats did all they could recently to pit blacks against whites. I hope this is not seen as political, their divisive conduct has got to stop. Its tearing the country apart. Divide & conquer for the sake of power & control. Check out this recent report:

Surveillance video of an incident that occurred on Feb. 10 shows a number of black students at Kenwood Elementary School in Springfield, Ohio, physically attacking white students and reportedly forcing them to say “black lives matter.”

They have taught hate at every level, beginning with the very young. There are many in that group I stand shoulder to shoulder with but I'm very cautious. I'm not sure why we have to be forced together anyway. We have different likes & dislikes. Why not let us live with those we feel most comfortable with? Shouldn't that be a basic freedom, for any group?

First, I never trust partial interviews because I was almost fired when a reporter only printed part of a sentence I said.

Yes, I miss Dilbert I enjoyed his satirical comedy.

Dilbert is the newspaper version of South Park. Mr. Adams took a poll result that was presented about black’s racial feelings to him. He interrupted the results presented in his usual satirical extreme way showing how it would have been interrupted if the poll had been about white’s feelings abut blacks in today’s media. Media today wants everyone to hate each other solely on color of skin. I’ m sure he knew there was high risk of being cancelled. He is a very intelligent individual. Maybe he wanted to retire while making a point. It is character that matters not skin color.

I took a class in statistics and poll question writing in college. Basically, you can make any poll’s outcome be what you want it to be with the right question wording and polling the right people sample. It doesn’t have to be a VALID poll to present results and get the feed back you want. Remember polling companies have paying clients that want their point of view proven.

Why aren’t we as offended by the poll itself?

Particularly on this site where political opinion is allowed for one side only as no political statements are allowed. Again, an infraction "clickbait" thread, an echo chamber for the left.

I think this was Adams’ point - look at his follow-up tweets and videos, esp Hotep Jesus, and you’ll see.

Adams messages are generally very sophisticated and easily misconstrued if you don’t watch the entire video; one probably has to follow Adams for a long time to really understand.

Free speech ONLY occurs when you allow speech with which you personally disagree.

Freedom only occurs when you allow free speech.

The alternative is socialism. Welcome to The People’s Republic of North America.

Dilbert was kinda cool in the 90s. Haven't looked at one of those comics since maybe early 2000s. Saw much of the full video of what Adams said and think it's obviously subjective of his own experiences and how he handles it. I have noticed that the ones crying for free speech are always the ones who like pushing the buttons and trying to go far beyond civil. A person's free speech should not extend into toxic and obnoxious public behavior. Some may not recall that the whole free speech thing happened long before social media. So we may adjust for current situations like bang-bang control. And like the norm, a few messed up people can impact rules/laws for everyone.

True, but that doesn’t mean exercising your right to speak freely won’t have consequences you don’t like. It’s often better to NOT speak freely. You are more likely to keep your friends.

I think Adams should have kept his mouth shut. If not, he should have been much more precise in how he examined the poll and analyzed the implications. I remember ten years ago taking a black college professor out on a rather fancy date. I thought we had a nice time. As I was walking her to her car from the restaurant, she said, out of the blue, “I hate white people.” I was startled. She went on to recommend several books about whiteness. I read them. I didn’t agree. And I never called saw her again. A statement like hers fits in with Adams’ poll, I think, and it is problematic. It’s hard for everyone to get along when their starting point is a stated hatred of an entire group.

Default Cancel culture stinks

I miss DILBERT. Cancel culture has been carried too far, and it works both ways DAILY SUN. The press should be embracing free speech.

I think Adams knew exactly what would happen and planned it as his "retirement". I saw a tweet from a few years ago where he pondered about going out with a bang. I also saw his whole point was to provoke people into talking about what is going on with race relations. He predicted he would be taken out of context by the media and that's what happened.

Go to dilbert.com and sign up for the daily email with that day's cartoon. It's free and how I've been reading Dilbert for over a decade.

Yes he did, and newspapers had a right to fire him for it. what he did actually has nothing to do with 1st amendment rights, because they protect you from the government, not private businesses.
