In this current case, the couple were publicizing their journey by blogging and vlogging about it on the Internet. By the time her parents reported her missing it came out that the BF had driven back to FL in HER CAR without HER. So from the gitgo we had reason to believe he was involved and was apparently stupid enough to think he could show up at home in that van and NOT be suspected! We immediately have a bad guy to obsess over.

Because Gabby had that blog there are lots of photos and video clips of the two of them during their trip for the media to show over and over. And of course she was this adorable young girl, setting off an adventure with the love of her life (RETCH) ... only to have it end so badly. I think because of what we knew about them, people were strongly affected by the story. And we love having a bad guy to hate!

Just my thoughts.

Very well put!!!

News programs do need advertisers to pitch their products during commercials so they do tend to find stories that have a lot of human interest like this one. And it does attract viewers. Beautiful young women who uses social media a lot goes missing.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but I can't help but wonder why law enforcement didn't invest a small amount of money to keep the boyfriend under surveillance. Now, they are spending many millions of dollars of taxpayer money searching for him. Is there any limit to how much money they are willing to spend on the search with apparently no accountability?

I looked it up. There are seventeen in the Northport police group.

At the beginning it did not seem as obvious as it does now.

The guy was refusing to talk to the police long before he ran away. Why didn't the FBI keep track of where he was? Now, they are spending unlimited taxpayer funds to search for him. I don't get it.

The amount of media coverage and FBI coverage and FL police coverage on this case is out of control. How many people are shot and killed in Chicago every single day and zero of this happens? To me the girl and the guy and their familes got what was coming, each in their own way. The kids were raised with no morals, no work ethic, and were living off the parents in a damn van in the driveway. The parents created "raised" them with a lack of good parenting over years and years of stupidity. These kids and their familes are perfect examples of what our Country is all about today with no end in sight. The only thing that matters to most young adults today is social media fame and doing as little as possible to do any real work. They've never heard of the gospel nor any of its teachings that builds character and any sense of morality. These news stories are perfect examples of this. Oh this poor "beautiful" young girl who was so wonderful and full of life. If the girl was a geek guy that weighed 350 pounds and was balding....this story would not even exist. The only thing that matter is this happened to someone who was young and beautiful. And while we are at it....let us assume the guy is a monster and isn't simply on the run because he knows even if he didn't cause this that he stands no chance in hell of this not ruining the remainder of his life. Perhaps he is a monster but there is also the chance he didn't do it and is on the run out of fear. The media and most people following this story could care less....ASSUME at all loss of reason that he is a monster and who cares what the truth really is.

I read where Laundrie used Petito's credit/debit card and they are charging him with Fraud.

Now I am beginning to think he is still alive after initially thinking he committed suicide.

I have to think that there are important details not yet heard.

What do you think happened when his parents took him away for several days in their camper? Where did they go? What did they do? How many kids do the Laundries have other than Brian and his older sister who has kids that Gabby wrote to?

Well you have a point. In a sense we are attracted to pleasant stuff, whether it is visual, smell or taste. That is why we buy art, we like to look at it, perfume we like to smell it, and we eat delicious food. People prefer enjoyable things in general. Of course there are individual preferences, like I only watch commercials which have animals in them.

Mr. Laundrie not only has the right to remain silent, he appears to be one of the very few who actually have the ability to do so. I would guess that over 50% of the people currently in prison in America are there for one reason only, and it was their lack of the ability to remain silent.

Not to mention they did something terribly wrong that harmed someone awfully.

Just sayin'.

The girl got what's coming, in her own way. Did I misread something???

skippy05 09-25-2021 03:23 PM

no you didn't miss anything. she doesn't work a job and she contributes nothing to society. spends all of her time on youtube and twitter for a "living". chooses a man who does her harm for a boyfriend. chooses a man who can't even afford his own van. chooses a man who has no full-time job. Chooses a man who lives in his parent's driveway. cries like a baby over dirt in a van floor. drives all over the country having out-of-wedlock sex. Yes, she reap what she sow and suffered the consequences of all those decisions.

Ah, hind sight is 20/20. Our lost children, where were their parents? But given all those bad choices, she seemed truly happy for a little while….
