Both Gabby and Brian quit their jobs to go on this trip. We really don't have a lot of details about their finances or how long they had both been working before the trip or how much money they had saved up for the trip. Gabby was hoping to get enough viewers her on her social media channels to earn an income that way. In the meantime, it does sound as though their parents were helping them.

Gabby was only 22 and should have had many more years ahead of her. Sadly, her life was cut short.

When I heard that Brian and his parents had gone silent and weren't talking to the police I knew that was a very bad sign. I think that most people did.

I am trying to figure out why this particular case is national news?

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that Gabby had been documenting her travels with her boyfriend and she had been in regular communication with her parents and that communication abruptly ended. Her boyfriend showed up at his parents' house with her van and presumably had been using her credit/bank accounts. Gabby at first was missing and her boyfriend wasn't talking and neither were his parents. Now Gabby's body has been found, the boyfriend is loose and either dead or on the run and more and more has been coming out about this young couple's final weeks together.

It's been an odd set of circumstances all around. Even Dog the Bounty Hunter was seen knocking on the door of the parents' house.

Perhaps because like “Forensic Files” that was a hit on tv for the longest time, and “The First 48”, murder mysteries seem to catch our attention.

Even if one were to hold their palms so tightly to their ears that no sound can penetrate, doesn't mean the drum isn't still banging.

Yet you completely ignore the fact that the very same media completely ignores it when the police shoot someone NOT of color...

How tight are you holding your palms to your ears?

Tell me how you have even the faintest clue as to what I pay attention to, or ignore, particularly since you are dead wrong - again? I care about anyone, who is unarmed, not a threat to anyone else and is shot/killed/injured by inept, biased or poorly trained LEO's. Especially those shot in the back, or with their hands up, which on % basis - happens to those of color more. I also strongly support the vast majority of good law enforcement people, who do a wonderful, often thankless job. Anyway, the question was asked why this case has received so much attention and I provided a link to the answer, which by a number of posts in this thread - has proved it to be correct. You can have the last words.

Well, since I asked you a very specific question on a specific topic, several times, and you've yet to answer said question, one can only surmise you don't care about that topic...

Show me how I'm wrong...

And to your point. ONE guy was shot in the back, and the cop was prosecuted and found guilty. And who was shot "with their hands up"?

And since we're talking percentages, who commits the vast majority of murders, despite being a small percentage of the population?

Which percentage of the population has a much higher percentage of police contacts (most due to their neighbors/spouses calling said police)?

More police contacts, more chances of things going sideways...

And your Wiki link? Gimme a break...

I am still avidly watching for developments in the search for Brian Laundrie. Does anyone else think he might be hiding in The Ocala Forest? It is huge and there are many homeless people who live there and he could perhaps alter his looks and blend in?

Does anyone think his parents are innocent of helping him vanish?

I do not think so.

Google the camping map for the Ocala Forest. This is such a large public area with all kinds of places to camp and FRESH Water..........Do you think that taking the cap camper on that trip before he reported her missing was a way to find a remote area and "stock him up"????

I'm not following it closely, in fact I'm sick of it. Don't understand why the media is giving it so much repeated coverage. There are hundreds of missing people.

If I am correct, Brian left with a back pack, no car or money. Just how far can be get. They should just put a reward on him instead of spending millions on searching forests and swamps.

I am following this case, too Gracie. I sure hope they find him soon.

I also do NOT think his parents are innocent of helping him. I just hope that the truth is found (I believe it eventually will be) and that justice will be served (which unfortunately, could be questionable). Time will tell.

Covid turned everyone into overnight virus experts. This poor girls death is turning everyone into homicide detectives.
Sadly what is seen all too often is the media (which combined knows very little but how to spin) has yet to remind anyone that in this country, you are innocent until proven guilty. Reminds me of the towns people in "Frankenstein". Torch anyone?

Except Frankenstein's monster was guilty, as he had killed a couple of people including a little girl, albeit inadvertently. Great movie, though (the 1931 version). Unbelievable production values and make-up for that time. Karloff was amazing as the Monster. Also loved the sequel "Bride of Frankenstein". :icon_wink:
