I am concerned about Google’s interest in releasing millions of mosquitoes in Florida to apparently combat disease carrying mosquitoes. This is being referred to as The Debug Mosquitoes Program.
My concern is the safety for all Floridians. Prior to any approval the EPA must be absolutely certain this release will not negatively impact our residents and environment. I think Google must demonstrate all studies and facts that provide a full and accurate scope of how this program will affect and potentially affect our Florida environment and residents. This must be a comprehensive fact filled study that clearly shows any and all potential resulting problems resulting from the proposed release. This must include all historical experience and results where such a program was employed in another country or region. There must be no guessing about the health and safety of this proposal. There must be no guessing about the potential short and long term harm to our health and environment such a program could create. We must know all the facts to ensure this will be safe for all Floridians for now and the future. Please consider contact Governor DeSantis and your Federal Legisaltors. |

Good Grief, at least provide a source for your information so we do not think you saw some fake news on the true internet. Sounds like a good idea to me after reading an actual article on it.

The idea is pretty novel. Releasing sterile male mosquitoes into a state that is known to have mosquitoes that carry diseases. The disease-carrying mosquitoes end up dying off, and all that's left are the mosquitoes that don't carry the diseases - which become food for lizards and spiders and other creepy crawlies that rely on mosquitoes for nourishment.

Modified mosquitoes, what could possibly go wrong?

There is nothing new about this technique. It is many decades old and used in efforts to control other species populations. IMO, it is doomed to fail and will at best provide a short-term reduction in the population. I just hope we're not spending any tax dollars on it.

Google and USA today (and FOX News who also advocates this plan) have never misled or done anything to endanger Americans. The very idea is beyond the pail. And it's AI-approved. |

So you’re saying that the male mosquitoes who are sterile are smart enough to only mate with the diseased females and they’re gonna leave the healthy ones alone so that they can be food for geckos and birds and things.
I honestly don’t think male mosquitoes are that smart. |

Of course, if it’s AI and government approved it’s a must do project. A year or so prior to our retirement “they” (with supposedly government approval) released hybrid bass into our beautiful 3,000 acre lake where we lived and now I understand the fishing is terrible. It was a great crappie lake. No more. That wasn’t suppose to happen. Careful what you wish for.

Can someone explain why Google, or Bill Gates, etc are trying to fix and make the world better, instead of the 100s of government and world agencies whose only job is to make the world better?
(Personally, even before the last pandemic, I don't trust the CDC, WHO etc.) |

Yes, I like to make sure that my roach motels only trap those that aren't pregnant so that the species doesn't become extinct.
