Default “Deliver de letter, the sooner de better“

About those sorting machines — some stats for you:

It has been declared that those sorting machines will not be put back. There seem to be a lot of excuses — like this is normal. (Oh, how I miss normal.)

Anyway, I thought I would check to see how normal it is to get rid of those mail-sorting machines that we see trashed in those pictures.

Here is what I learned:

Number of Mail-Sorting Machines Removed and When:

2018 — 125

2019 — 186

2020 — 671 ordered removed — 600 done — and not coming back

Numbers of Machines Removed in Certain States:

FL: 59
TX: 58
OH: 34
PA: 30
MI: 26
NC: 15
VA: 12
WI: 12
GA: 11

That looks to me like 38% were removed from just 9 states.

Anybody see a pattern?

I remain,
Inquisitive Boomer

Finding conspiracies where there are none is a constructive way to spend your 'golden years.'

No it is not. I sure wish all would stop looking HOWEVER, THE posters question originally and really not answered was......WHY NOW.....and now add WHY only certain ?

They are question worthy of answer......the conspiracy theory, if there ever was one began on high, not here and not anywhere else.

Now we are told, NOBODY seems to know who did this....that adds to the confusion and chaos, NOT the conspiracy theory.

This is a taxpayer owned system and they deserve answers, don't you think.

It would be pretty easy, if a conspiracy theory to take further steps in that so called conspiracy, but nobody on this forum has the deserved answer and those who "know" or should know won't answer.

Everybody talks about efficiency....if my company had a situation like this, answers would be not only forthcoming but demanded and certainly by someone who took over LOUDLY.

I do get it,,...just more chaos

There is not a rascal in every wood pile.

No matter how we think about mail in votes, we are going to have mail in votes and we are going to have an election.

However, afterward, both sides will say they won, lost, said elections because of the post office and or mail in votes.

I think said election will be won/lost because the really smart people in this country aren't running. They have all retired to The Villages.
You win my vote for quote of the year. “I think said election will be won/lost because smart people in this country aren’t running. They have all retired to The Villages.”

US house of Reps called in to vote on a $25 Bill to support the USPO (Money not needed for the election voting) , postmaster General called before congress states there is no problem, if the states mail out ballots on time and if people mail them in on time.

People are manufacturing a problem that does not exist. The real problem is not the USPO, but rather the people who are complaining. Get your mail in ballot in time and mail it in time. If you screw up, go vote in person.

No question that the model of the post office is very broken and has been for years.

Part of it is a mandate from the govt including funding pensions for a ridiculous amount of time as well as underpricing services like delivering packages for Amazon< No way can they make a profit doing next day delivery including weekends.

First class mail is way down and will continue to decrease based on the world we live in and lets face it 55 cents for a stamp is too little.

At some point they do have to fix this, why not now?

Newman is available and according to the Peter principle is available to undertake the task.

PS: Lets see if anyone gets the reference.
;not that there's anything wrong with that,'...

All I can verify is that I put my mail in the same box that I receive the mail in and it works.
Over the last several years, at our primary residence, the local police have warned us NOT to use our curbside mailbox for outgoing mail. Too many thieves steal the mail, looking for checks that they can wash and other identity theft problems.

It is a further distance, but placing your outgoing mail in a USPS mailbox is still more secure.

I have heard people say, “Oh, but those sorting machines are outdated.”

When I ask, “If those machines are suddenly so outdated and need to be removed, what would be the big deal about waiting just a little longer — you know, like maybe after the first of the year — and with a plan to replace them — so the PO would not be left completely hamstrung and flailing for the rest of 2020?”

Seems like, I can never get an answer from the excusers.

Do they not answer me because they are complicit?

Or do they not answer because they are so used to buying into egregious maneuvers that they are numb to what is happening right under their noses?

Or do they not answer because they have fallen hook, line, and sinker for whatever their favorite television channel plants in their brains?

Or is a hijacked amygdala their problem?

Or do they think it’s just fine to wipe one’s behind with the Constitution?

Whatever it is — I cannot seem to get an answer from the excusers as to why the timing of the attack on the PO must be NOW?

Hmmmm, whatever could it be?

Why can’t those who blithely excuse this transparent attack on the PO answer my simple question, — “Why now?”

Because when you lose billions of dollars you have to cut somewhere. You don’t think there going to cut management do you? You know the old saying Shyt rolls down hill. Postal service is bigger waste than public schools where management and unions have taken over and ruins the product by over management 6 figure plus salaries that add nothing to day to day operations. Then, there the Underlining agenda.

In order to pay her bills by mail, all she has to do is place her outgoing main into her mailbox. The postman (or woman) will take it to the post office.
