If you're the victim of fraud, and used a GOVERNMENT loan to pay for that fraud, the government will erase the remaining debt. They won't "make you whole" again, because you'll still be out however much you already paid. And, they'll only erase the debt of THAT loan. If you borrowed from a bank in addition from the government loan, then no - the government will not erase your debt to the bank.


If some drunk driver hits you, the drunk driver's insurance will erase your medical bills.
