Should I have nitrogen put in my tires? Depends on where you live? And how often you check air pressure? Just cause you have idiot light on dash doesn’t mean you don’t need to check tire pressure. The light comes on when low pressure reaches dangerous level. Driving at low minimum where light doesn’t come can wear tire out prematurely? Last edited by Topspinmo; 10-11-2026 at 07:05 AM. |

Checked my tire pressure today. Been about a month. With cool weather few day this month was down 2 to 3 pounds. Temperature was 70 degrees. Most was 27 to 27.5. I fill my tire to 30 to 32 degrees depending on time year. So I filled them to 30. I think my idiot light come at 25? But, I don’t know cause I never ran my tires that low.
“ AI” • Low PSI Threshold: If your car recommends 32 to 35 PSI, the light usually turns on once pressure falls to roughly 24 to 26 PSI. • Cold Weather: Tire pressure drops by about 1 PSI for every 10°F the temperature falls. Cold mornings frequently cause the light to trigger overnight, though it may turn off later in the day once driving warms the tires. • Punctures or Slow Leaks: A nail, a damaged valve stem, or a slow leak will cause pressure to drop steadily until the sensor triggers the light. • Blinking Light (System Fault): If the TPMS light flashes for 60 to 90 seconds at startup before turning solid, it means there is an electrical problem, a dead sensor battery (sensors usually last 6 to 10 years), or a malfunctioning system rather than just low air |
