I know this is mostly throw away world. But, some things can be easily repaired or serviced and brought back to life. If you have vehicle floor jack good example or anything that has hydraulic lifting mechanism. Mostly likely it has lost little hydraulic fluid over years and air has entered the space. Now the Jack won’t jack up or jack up all the way. A five dollar bottle hydraulic fluid will mostly fix 99%, some may require 10 cent o-ring most just need fluid added.
I was taught this 50 plus years ago when I worked at rock quarry that had 10 ton hydraulic bottle jacks. Utube has dozens videos on how fill and bleed hydraulic jacks. Couple weeks ago somebody throw 3 ton floor jack in trash. Looked almost new, so I saved it. All it needed was about 5oz fluid and clean up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-iElqzleUU https://www.amazon.com/Bars-Leaks-Ja...82&sr=8-5&th=1 You can use automatic transmission fluid but some don’t recommend due to not designed of hydraulic cylinders. |
