Escambia has been one of our favorite courses of the 4 executive courses at or near the Moyer Recreation Center. We played there yesterday (Thursday)
Pretty disappointed in the conditions. The greens and the tee boxes are in bad shape. They are either about to loose the greens or they are starting to “recover” ? Hard to say which ? These courses are being pounded by A LOT of play (no news there) . When we arrived for an 11:32 tee time , there was ONLY ONE golf cart parking spot in the entire two long rows of spots . I have never seen that at this location in the past. After speaking with the starter, we learned that there were “several groups” that were there waiting for their times. Anyhow, it was another beautiful day weather wise and we got to play followed by lunch and a couple of beers ! ![]() |

I rarely play execs but today we payed Truman. They should give players $4 to be there. The "greens", if you could call them that, were at least 50% dirt. I have been here 18 years and have never seen conditions like this even remotely close. Terrible. And please, don't give me the El Nino garbage.

…on the other hand, we played Bogart yesterday. The greens were quite good. A bit thick, could use a trim, but all green grass. Refreshing, especially as we both played it quite well dispute the windy conditions.

Golfers shopping for homes in The Villages should NOT purchase a New Home in the Southern Areas. Rather, they should buy a pre-owned home in the Middle or Northern areas which have plenty of golf courses nearby. |

There are courses with very nice greens, sweetgum for an example, along with the pitch n putts have good greens. But you go across the street to mangrove and they are terrible.
A few more months to a couple more years, we will be minutes away from the 5-8 new golf courses they are putting in on the other side of the hwy. TV should fire the grounds keepers at the bad sites and hire more from the contractors that have done a good job |

Turf superintendent now what to do because they monitor the coarse throughout everyday and can fix a problem before it gets bad |

I’m afraid that it’s the later …. Lawn mowing companies that are under contract to mow the $hit out of the courses where it needs it or not ! That’s why you see mostly hard pan on most courses, executives and championship. Of course, there are exceptions as noted on the “review” I just posted this morning about Oakleigh…..
