Re: Girl Talk

Barb (love your avatar) and Susan .. thanks for the suggestions. Sadly I am the Return Queen of all time and so would never dare to shop on line.

Mint Julep, thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely check out Chico's and Patchingtons and report back here! I'm a lazy shopper, I can't stand to wade through piles of stuff. I really like the small speciality stores for "special occasions". They are more expensive but make shopping much easier.

Having said that, I've spent bags of money at the local Bealls Outlet at Southern Trace shopping for casual clothes. The prices there are simply incredible!

Re: Girl Talk

Is that where you got the orange outfit? That was one of the cutest I've seen in a long time.

Barefoot 04-13-2008 03:58 PM

Re: Girl Talk

Susan, I got that orange dress in Santorini, Greece. I love it so much that I rarely wear it. Does that make any sense at all? Naw, I didn't think so.

BTW, isn't it great to have a thread where there is no actual topic; so you can change topic whenever you want and the boys can't bitch about it?

renielarson 04-14-2008 01:12 AM

Re: Girl Talk

Barefoot...I loved that orange dress, too! Was going to tell you but forgot (uh oh....sign of aging?).

Samhass...you looked so cute and comfy in the white dress at The Freeze. Don't think I'm small enough to wear something like that yet, but give me another few months and I just may give it a shot.

Susan...you now have me thinking that maybe I should try more bolder colors and not limit myself to only basic and simple. And, for my little skorts that I absolutely adore and own a closetful...well, maybe it's time to explore other options. Next time we're together, perhaps you'll go shopping with me and give me encouragement to try brighter and different things!

I'm thinking...hmmm...Barefoot and I at The Markets of Marion, Susan and I clothes shopping...watch out TV!

Oh my....what has this past week in TV done to me ??? ??? ???

Hey Bright, A cotton dress with no waistband suits me to a tee!!
Gee, I miss you and S&T already. Bare, M2Five and Nonie to soon follow....nooooooooooooooooooo!!
HB and SL have gone. Hurry up, all of you, and come back home.

renielarson 04-14-2008 04:24 AM

Re: Girl Talk

Samhass...I miss you and all the other TOTVers I met. A dress without a waistband is what I need...but hopefully not for long....

Encourage me to continue my dieting...

Just Susan 04-14-2008 06:04 AM

Re: Girl Talk

Hey chubby...keep dieting!!!
Was that encouraging? :dontknow: ??? :dontknow:
Only a bigger person can call a smaller person chubby. ;D Course I guess it also will help that you know I luv ya. Looking forward to shopping with you. Let's both be smaller when we do.

We have arrived back in MN. It seems we just left and here we are back again so quickly.
You know our visit last year was really fun, we looked at a lot of houses and we knew we wanted more of TV in our lives; but this year we didn't look at houses much at all. This year we found friends, not aquaintances, friends. This year we left our hearts in The Villages. How amazing to find couples that both of us, like both of them! That just doesn't happen that often in life...but it did.

Going to miss you all terribly, but we'll keep in touch and hopefully we will hurry back "home" quickly.

Love you all,
S&T

Susan, Bright, Sam, .. if you're all going to be skinny this time next year, I want to get started on a diet also.

Let's talk about diet tips!! 040

Hyacinth Bucket 04-14-2008 12:32 PM

Re: Girl Talk

My first Diet Tip - we will not be eating out so often. We ate out more nights than I can count. The food, except for Tierra del Sol was all way to gooood.

I exercised more and was more active and could not figure out why I gained weight, than last night the answer came in a flash - eating out.

Sam enjoy your last month in TV.

Miss everyone the second we drove away. I also "Left my heart in TV (not San Francisco)."

Love ya all.

HB

Re: Girl Talk

Hb, I'm heading north for the shortest time possible. We just want to see how much has to be done after all the winter storms. I'm sure there will be plenty of windows for Mr Samhass to wash!! I'll get to spend some joyous time with my Granddaughter. I figure after a week to ten days,I'm back here. I may have to tie Mr Samhass in the car to get him away that quickly, but I am prepared to do what it take to get back to TV ASAP.

nONIE 04-14-2008 02:20 PM

Re: Girl Talk

HB,

Not eating out as much is a great way to start dieting, but doesnt that mean we have to start cooking??? Ive been way too spoiled in TV and the scale shows it! >:(

despite all the extra activity, the good food won over! Arghhhhhhh!

Bare, if you start dieting, we wont be able to even see you the next time were all in TV.
You and "Julia" will become Sistah's! :yikes:

KathieI 04-14-2008 02:29 PM

Re: Girl Talk

I started my Chinese Herbal "detox" diet yesterday. Its pretty easy, just don't eat anything!!! and Since I love "greens" its easy for me. Now how do I keep this up in TV?
yes, eat out!!

I'm gonna miss my acupuncturist, love that doctor so much. Does any one know of a good one in or near TV? I'll drive to the end of Florida for a good one, let me know pleeeasseee. Thanks, Kathie

Just Susan 04-14-2008 04:26 PM

Re: Girl Talk

Okay here is the deal as I see it.

Bare you start a forum for diet tips. HB you and Nonie, hire security and post them at all restaurants to keep us out. Kathie you are in charge of the herbs and needles. Bright how about if you find us a good lipposuctionist. (Wow, when you think about it, maybe we could start a new business...lamp oil...don't they get that from whale blubber ??? ??? If we all saved our lippoed stuff...hmmmm)

The rest of us will canvas TV covering every mirror and/or shiny surface so that when no one does what we should do, :yikes: we can pretend we did. ;D

********
Seriously, I think it would be very cool to support each other in an endeavor to become more healthy and physically fit....thin and sexy is just too much work...and the reward value of that...well like I said it is too much work.

Just Susan 04-14-2008 07:38 PM

Re: Girl Talk

Okay here is a question can we still eat stuff like this if we get it as take-out?

As spring approaches, chefs turn to the bounty of Italy for new recipe ideas featuring fresh herbs and vegetables. In the mountainous coastal region of Liguria, aromatic basil and vine-ripened tomatoes grow abundantly in tiny terrace gardens and are a vital part of the local cuisine.

Ingredients like these inspired our chefs to create delicious dishes such as our New! Five Cheese Stuffed Rigatoni with Shrimp and our Five Cheese Stuffed Rigatoni with Sausage. These entrées feature rigatoni pasta stuffed with five Italian cheeses and tossed with sautéed shrimp or grilled Italian sausage, then topped with fresh tomatoes and basil.

As far as I know, Whiskey Creek doesn't do herbal, so you may have to suffer and take a pass on the detox/diet for our get together on Wednesday night....

Darn you Susan! Not fair posting pics like that when I'm starved!

To add insult to injury, Mr. Bright is cooking tuna cakes, baked sweet potato fries, and broccoli for dinner.

I want that 5 cheese stuffed rigatoni and chocolate pie!!!!!

Just Susan 04-14-2008 10:34 PM

Re: Girl Talk

Yum wish you were close enough we'd be there for dinner. Tell Mr. Bright I discovered another kind of cake besides crab on the way home....Artichoke...I am practicing for our "throw down"

renielarson 04-14-2008 10:41 PM

Re: Girl Talk

I wonder if other TOTVers have some unique "cakes" recipes.

Let me see, crab, tuna, artichoke...this could get interesting! We could have a progressive dinner party next time we're in TV.

Olive garden...Not that I know of, yet. Cakes? I LOVE THE BEEF CAKE! also, CLAM CAKES! I am heading north to RI w/ daughter on 6/5-10th. We have plans to bring back frozen clam cakes. pop in oven for 10 minutes to reheat and almost as good as fresh! If I'm making a cake it would be a triple layer double chocolate fudge cake from a box!!

He will gain weight with age Kathie. They mostly all do.

Re: Girl Talk

Hi Susan, that is an easy question. If you eat the items standing up there are no calories. If you eat cookie crumbs, cake crumbs and other yummy crumbs there are no calories.

This information comes from an excellent source - Kathy - comic strip. She once did a whole thing on what items have no calories and when. :)

Brilliant HB. I knew there had to be a way around this calorie issue.

Susan - one just needs to know where to read what. Kathie has had other brilliant ideas in the past.

The Maxine ones on house keeping are also good. I will see if I still have them and will post them.

Miss ya.

Oh thank you for reminding me Chelsea. We bought some while we were there and it is still in my suitcase. I love Kilwins fudge.

In answer to your question...of course you can be part of it. I really don't want to start til next week though if we are all serious about this. We bought 2 slabs and got one free. I can't let them go to waste.

Wonderful post Travel. I am printing it out to keep with me as I excercise my way through the day.

Looking forward to Maxine HB

Re: Girl Talk

Tom, you bought fudge in TV and it is still in your suitcase? :dontknow: Didn't it call out to you in the night? If I have any goodies stashed around, they start calling my name around 8 PM. By 10 PM it is a chorus and can't be ignored. Sometimes I hide stuff in the garage so I have to walk further (about 3 feet further).

I wasn't hungry until I started reading the diet posts. ;D

You crack me up Bare. If it was in Tom's suitcase it would have not made it home. It was in mine and I forget about stuff like that. I really do. I have "stash" all over the place in my secret hiding places.

If I don't hide it Tom will find it and then it is gone. I nibble each time I find it...then stash it again...but mostly I don't find it until it has gone bad. Tom just read my post and said "bad the chocolate you stash turns white before you find it."

Yeah maybe he is right, but there is no expiration date on chocolate is there??? I thought if you let it sit long enough the calories evaporate ??? ???
