Susan and I have been talking a lot about caftans lately, (hmmm, wonder if body size has anything to do with that.) I'm looking for a website that has elegant, silky, flowing caftans. Susan gave me a UK site but they're mostly cotton. Anyone got any wonderful shopping websites?

Chels, thanks for the great caftan site. :#1: I picked a couple I liked, proceeded to checkout, and found the notation "cannot be shipped to Canadian address". ??? Bummer. I wonder if I had them shipped to my Florida address, would my "change of address" take over and the post office would forward them to Canada? :dontknow:

The thing I love about caftans is that when it is really hot, you don't have to wear underwear. OK, that is my little secret. ;) And if I wear a caftan to a Crispers luncheon, I don't want any rude questions, OK?

Bare, Chels, What the hail is a caftan? I thought it was a towel type rag that you wear on your head like Carmen Miranda!! Is it something I may want to wear on the cruise to cover all my rolls and celulite? Ill go check out the website.

Which leads me to another question.......... Sure would like some ideas on what to wear on this cruise to make me feel glamorous and skinny? Any suggestions sistahs???

Nonie, you may borrow my tomato hat, just understand it doesn't do well in the sun. You may have to replace the tomatoes from the buffet. :duck:

No no Nonie. You do the saran wrap thing at home in private BEFORE the trip!!! They actually have salons that do this and they cost a lot of money.

Did you think I was suggesting you walk around the cruise ship with sarah wrap on? You are so funny. 1rnfl

Let's all just wear caftans. Much simpler, and it will hide the extra pounds we add eating the cruise food. Arrrrrg

A woman in North Carolina had twins this week. The boy weighed 10 lbs 14 ounces.
The girl weighed 12 lbs 3 ounces. For a total of 23 lbs.

To cover the strange noises under our clothes, we will simply play the kazoo when in public. ;) Beads and I probably have some left over from the TV Kazoo Day. Easy peasy.

After the first day you take off the saran wrap .. ten pounds gone and the air can blow through. Or, if you're really uptight about a few lbs, there are other alternatives, like :barf:

Would be fun to do a kazoo concert onboard...it wouldn't be too annoying to the other passengers :cus: :cus:

I have found that cheap Kazoos sound terrible. I think we better look for a higher end kazoo, mabe at a music store? Dollar store kazoos will drive people to jump overboard and abandon ship.

I can't imagine anything that would make us less popular with other cruisers. Can you imagine the kazoo practice sessions around the pool? ;D Kind of like nude line dancing lessons. I think the kazoo idea should walk the plank. Splash. But the saran wrap/caftan thing might work, ya think?

How about forming a female chorale group called "The Caftan Criers" ???

Here's one for you to mull over. My friend and her hubby went on a cruise and entered a costume competition. She didn't wear any makeup and managed to find cothes between her hubby's clothes and hers, and she went made up as a nun.

She managed to take a white shirt collar and put it across her forehead and covered her head with a black blouse or however she did it, it sure looked real. The crowd thought she was a real nun as they didn't recognize her in the nun garb. She walked with her head bowed and her hands in prayer position (palms together at her waist).

Saw the pics and I've known her many years since childhood and wouldn't have recognized her! She won first prize!!

I'm not a cruise fan but I gotta tell ya .. if a group started kazooing around me, they would be swimming to the next port of call. Kazoos are fun but not something I would want to be around for any amount of time (like, um, oh, say 5 seconds) on board a ship. Sorry, ladies.

Thanks for being willing to join this crazy caftanian kazooer Chels, Actually I thought it was a great idea! I had it all planned. We would come out on stage in our exotic print caftans after being proudly introduced as the
"GREAT caftanian kazooers". We would dance out on the stage doing an American Indian dance(sort of like a pow wow), while playing a lovely melodic tune on our kazoos. The audience would holler and cheer us on and.........

Well anyway, I told Engr. guy about my plan and he infatically announced I will be cruisin alone!! >:( So I guess my plans are dead in the water according to Bare.

Beady, you have to be careful what you say to me, I believe everything people say, and I have also been reading too many of Boomers posts. So whats plan B????? :dontknow:

Oh, I guess you all don't like the kazoo idea, well I can't sing...so that's out....... how about sort of an exotic rendition of line dancing in our caftans. That could be interesting...and if we have our saran wrap on we will loose even more weight and be able to nosh at the midnight buffet...
