I wish to add a ladybird deed to my new home in Florida .. who would you suggest that I see for this? I’m sure many of you have done this so maybe you can give me a recommendation. As always, THANK YOU ! Susanne
P.S just added this , called around to a few local attorneys that do the ladybird deed. They’re wanting over $500 to fill the paperwork out and record it for me. I will do more research and try to do it myself. I just was fearful of making a mistake on the paperwork.. Last edited by homegirl; 07-25-2026 at 10:43 AM. |

You can pay an attorney or do it yourself. We have one. Check with your county clerk of court.

The same thing happened to me. Amy Pittman prepared a will for me a few years ago. A few months after that, I called their office to schedule an appointment to discuss a Ladybird deed. They wouldn't even make an appointment. The person on the phone said that they do not recommend or prepare Ladybird deeds. So, if you are interested in a Ladybird deed, the Pittman law firm is not the place to go.

If your estate is more complicated a pour over will and trust is advised. Otherwise a lady bird deed is just fine. Perhaps that law firm just doesn't want to be bothered doing this on a small scale.

I didn't even get that far. I don't know if the person I spoke to was even a legal professional. She just told me that their firm did not recoommend Ladybird deeds, and they would not prepare one. So, making an appointment would be a waste of time.

I did a Lady Bird Deed or Enhanced Life Estate Deed earlier this year, myself. You can go to google and look up the form. (Just a moment... this link may work if not you have the option I used e-forms. I paid a small amount to have it for a month. The form is simple. You need it notarized then walk it into your County with cash. No card, and I didn’t have check book with me at the time so don’t remember if that was an option. It was $50. In about a month I received a notice that something had been attached to my deed and there it was.
Ps. I have the free service that notifies you if someone is tampering with your deed, that was what sent it to me.

I did my own Lady Bird deed. I have one kiddo, and no ex husbands who are alive, so nothing to be contested. Got the form online. Took completed form to the building at the corner of 466 and Morse. Filing cost $27.00.

Laws change, without a professional review every few years...............it could be a waste of time.

Absolutly super simple. Download the form, (Google Esign.com) fill it out, (can do this with Libre Ofice actually)(OR print it out and pencil-whip it.) get it notarized & witnessed, file it with County. (Mailed filing is $27.07). No more difficult than filling out a Ballot and mailing. |
