He most certainly was. Just because he didn't play on the first album means nothing. Hell, by their 2nd or third album, "The Wrecking Crew": was playing all of the music...

Wikipedia? Of course. I read that too. David was a friend and neighbor and was pre Jardine (who came aboard for the second album. David was only 14 at the time so he was replaced so the band could work places David couldn't go.

Grew up in SoCal and loved the Beach Boys. Still some of my favorite music. Regardless of what Wiki says, and believing that "original" means "first", It was David's picture on the first album as part of the band, his name in the liner notes as part of the band. Al was not mentioned at all on album 1. Al appeared on #2, David's replacement.
