On Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) in cooperation with The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will provide the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Default Is there a place that takes expired pills at other times?

We snowbird in Brighton MI, where the police station has a box that is always available for disposal of expired medications. Is there anything like that in The Villages?

Yes CVS. They have a drop box at their locations. But call first because when I called to confirm, I was advised their box was full and wouldn’t be emptied for a few days. So I went to a different CVS.

I would like to find out where the drug drop off location will be, but when I hit “more” it just says Subscribe! Not helpful at all!

I go to the Sumter Sheriff office and pick up the drug deactivation packets. You just add it to the bottle of medicine and shake. It dissolves and hardens, then you throw in the trash.
