Default Travelers expected to break records

Originally published by Summer Jarro, Daily Sun The holidays are almost here, which means Central Florida’s roadways and airports soon will be even busier. Year-end holiday travel in Florida is expected to reach a record high this year, according to AAA. The association expects about 6.3 million Floridians to travel for the holidays from Friday

Default Villages airport shuttle Workman....the best way to go!

I just traveled back home to Maine on Monday, shuttle picked me up at 4:45am, got to the airport at 7:30'ish....there were lines EVERYWHERE! Especially, if you were traveling internationally, lines snaked around for miles!

Fortunately, I had my Pre-TSA approval, marched to the kiosk to print my luggage tag, stood in a short "BAGGAGE DROP-OFF" line, quickly thought Pre-TSA security check, then off to my gate!

I had time to get a light breakfast and read for the remaining hour of my wait time...couldn't have been easier! Can't say this loud enough, people get to the airport EARLY, you can relax before your flight.

I was picked up by the van at 3am - got to the airport at 4:30 for a 6:30 am flight - after 2 hours of delays posted (the plane was there) they moved us to another gate and new plane. After a total of 8 hours sitting in MCO we finally took off. Apparently it took 6 hours to get the release papers from Denver for us to fly on the different plane. They gave us $10 voucher for lunch, since the plane was only 10% occupied we got to order anything off the menu, and a $50 voucher for future travel on Frontier. Long day, but with all the sadness many families are facing this season, to me it was just a minor inconvenience.

We love the Harraseeket Inn with it Afternoon High Tea, Maine Dining Room and Broad Arrow Tavern. Also LL Bean and When Pigs Fly.

Hey Tom, you are correct, those places are great to visit; fortunately, we live about 0.4 miles from the Harraseeket Inn. There are plenty of vacancies on Main Street, hopefully things will turn around in 2023. How often do you come to Maine?

Don't be sucked into Linda Bean's restaurant, it is overpriced food and the food is NOT very good at all. I ordered a seafood chowder, it was so thick my spoon stood up in it! I would also recommend Buck's Naked BBQ, plus there are many new brew pubs locally....enjoy!

Just another example of where Florida's population (especially in winter) has overwhelmed its infrastructure, like roads, airports, hospitals, etc. Which also applies to many other areas of the US.

So many eager travelers and airlines wanting the $$$ --- Due to the extreme weather forecasted, I predict there will be one hell of a disaster in the next ten days. Sad to say.
