Default Access for Single Player

As a 'newbie' to The Villages, does anyone have any advice on how a single player can get a tee time? Do courses require you to wait until they can fill out a foursome?

Nope. You can book as a single through either the phone system or online system. I haven't done this yet, but I imagine you can put in a tee time request as a single, too.

You can make a request at any time. Soon you'll meet different golfers and become part of a group. I just added a fellow who signed on as a single last week, he's playing with us this week. Enjoy

My hubby plays as a single all the time. He requests tee times several days ahead or will often call the courses he likes the day of play and can usually get in on the day of play.

He has really enjoyed meeting and playing golf with the folks with which he has been paired. Every day is different!

You can get thevillages.net where you can access executive and championship tee times up to 3 days in advance. It's $8.00 per month and there is a lot more info on their site that will help you get comfortable here. They are located at Sumter Landing, next to Red Sauce. And, it's really easy to use after a time or two.

The first six months I lived here, I played as a single. However, if you're like most people you prefer to play golf with others, especially if it's 18 holes on a championship course. It's also a good way to meet other golfers.

Three days before you want to play, go to the online teetime system ($8 a month automatically charged on your CC) and look for open times at the course and the 18 that you want to play. Find a threesome or twosome, and if you're a man you'll probably look for two males, and put yourself in for that time. You'll be playing in that group. Very easy to do and you'll meet a lot of nice golfers.

Sometimes I feel like I'm beating a long horse, but here goes. If you take 1 morning out of your schedule, you can attend the Good Golf School. They will explain, in detail, how the entire system works, and answer any questions you may have, including the point system. I firmly believe the school should be mandatory before you can get a t-time.
