I'm assuming you're a "Senior"? Kind of unusual to be "fitted" into Stiff steel shaft", but if it works, great.

I haven't played a standard steel shaft in 20+ years and would never consider using them. Too tough on my joints. I switched to Nippons 25 years ago and all my elbow pain went away. Switched to SteelFiber about 20 years ago and straight graphite, about 15 years ago.

I'm curious .... how far are you hitting your Driver? That's usually a good indicator of a player's proper flex window (not that there aren't additional criteria or considerations).

Played my new Cleveland RTZ wedges today (52,56,60), and wow, those wedges really put a lot of backspin on the ball. I play the Srixon Q-Star Ultispeed ball.

I was surprised as well I expected to end up with some sort of graphite shafts but only one of the four fitters put me in graphite that was Srixon, they had me in the mmt shafts. Yes I am a senior, 67 yo.
My driver probably flies 230 average. When I fit for a driver and 3 wood in the last couple years they both said that based on swing speed I was in between stiff and regular, I bought a regular 3 wood and a stiff driver. I did get best ball speed with a regular shaft driver but it was too hard to control, the stiff gave me much more consistent flight. My 7 wood is regular and it's now one of my favorite clubs.

My wedges are getting pretty old so I'll replace them next. I've played Callaway for the last three sets but I'll take a look at the Clevelands when I'm out shopping.

If you're flying your driver 220-230, you're 90+ mph, which would generally put you right between Stiff & Regular. If control (dispersion) is a concern, putting you into a Stiff was probably a smart move.

I played the MMT shafts for a while. I think they play very close to a steel shaft, feel wise. Mitsubishi has a little different theory than most other shaft manufacturers.

I'm guessing you're a "hitter" as opposed to a "swinger"? Which is why they put you into the steel shafts.

You probably did the smart thing, putting a Stiff in the Driver and Regular in your 3W & 5W. The Driver tends to give people the "hit impulse", which is typically adverse to dispersion. Most players are less likely to try to "hit" the 3W & 5W and the Regular shaft will respond better to a more balanced swing.

Sounds like you did better than most with your fitting process. Probably wouldn't have been as productive if you just went to one "fitter".

Bought mine at the new Central Lake Custom Club Shop at Eastport; best deal around.
