Good quality golf clubs are getting like cars, club makers are coming out with new models each year, you may want to consider getting a used high level club set, you will get the latest technology and not spend an arm and a leg. I would check out Golf Central in Brownwood, my dealings with them have always been good, I find them to be knowledgeable and helpful

Golf Central has been sold. Pops Golf Co has reopened, in that location. definitely not the store you dealt in the past.

You might want to head to Costco and see if they still have any of their iron sets left. They are a copy of the TaylorMade P790's and only have stiff shaft models left. It sounds like your son is at the age where he can still use stiff shafts. I own the TaylorMade's and love them. My buddy bought the Costco version in regular flex and they look great and feel great when hit. Best of all, they are currently on clearance for $299. I was really impressed with them at that price.

When they were introduced, I think they were $499 and sellers on eBay were getting almost double that price.

Some Costcos may still have their "Wedge Set", which is also a great buy.
