I was not on the radio but I could not agree more. We play for the exercise, the comeraderie, the beauty, and the possible improvement in our scores. BUT... lunch is the most fun. Just because many women's groupd don't play for money, keep score or beat themselves up if they don't do as well one day as they did the day before doesn't mean that we should not take advantage of the amenities fees we pay. Championship golf should be played on the championship courses. The executive courses are for the rest of us. One day we played behind a group of men who were a bit older than the rest of us. They were slow, took a lot of shots and held things up a bit. We thanked God that they were still exercising and getting out of their homes. We just chatted while we waited and then tried to go as fast as we could to make up a little of the time. All went well!

the ladies' posts here make me think that men's golf groups should take a page from the ladies' book and play for the health of it rather than the intensity of it and the competition!

more camaraderie and less competition in life could benefit so much more than just a golf match! men boil everything down to win or lose from t-ball to fantasy sports leagues; women channel their energy into dealing with the reality created by competitive males!

These are the kind of people that ruin it for everyone. If you don't care then don't play so the ones that do care can play.
Maybe nobody here cares what you say about people who are happy and not bothering anybody.

Default Thanks GOMOHO

I just came back from a round at Yankee Clipper. The first hole was lousy as they usually are. I shot a 6 on one and a 5 on another. I shot senior par on the long par 4 and parred the shorter one. Why do I say this. Because I had a great time with great friends, saw two beautiful White Pelicans and many Ibises and had a great lunch to boot. I hope I didn't "ruin it for anyone" cuz I had a great time.

BTW, has anyone had any experience with golfing horribly before cataract surgery and better after? I can only hope!!!

I am a lousy golfer and when I play, it's rare but I do it not for the golf but to spend time with my husband. I work full time and hardly get to spend any time with him at all. Sometimes I'm happy just to ride along in the cart and watch him. I don't think I'm ruining it for anyone!
