Smile Popular Golf Clubs used by TV GoLfers

I am thinking of buying a set of golf clubs in TV so I thought I'd ask what brand many of you are using and how many. Am assuming most are not low handicappers so you are either in mid(15-25) or high(25-35) handicaps. Sorry, if you are a scratch player. And assuming you play mostly executive courses, what's in your bag?

I have an old set of Air Bear with a few hybrid clubs and new driver. I have Callaway 3 iron-wood and 5 hybrid. Am I wrong in assuming you use graphite and senior shaft? I don't carry any irons below 6 and revert to hybrids. I was thinking of buying Taylor Made, Callaway, Cleveland or Adams. Would anyone carry gap wedge and if so for what? I have a lob wedge. I am assuming around the green finesse shots to lower your score at executive courses. Lots of assuming here but appreciate any thoughts. Finally, where should I buy the clubs?

First off if you are mid to high handicap, I would avoid a lob wedge. Very hard club to hit , at least for me it is . I am a 15 handicap and have never mastered that club. My woods are Taylor Made and I have Ping I3 irons with graphite shafts. Have two Taylor Made Hybrids in the bag, a 19 deg and a 25 deg. I do have a gap wedge and find it quiet handy on some courses. I would recommend regardless of where and what brand clubs you buy, that you get fitted for them. Makes all the difference in the world if your clubs are the proper length and lie.

Just recently went with Taylor Made Burner Plus irons, Burner Superfast driver and 3 wood, all with senior grahpite shafts. Have gained considerable distance and accuracy. So far so good.

I am also a 15 handicap. I recently went with Taylormade Burner Irons (2009) graphite, 4 thru lob. Lob is fairly easy to hit out of light rough for full shots or short pitches not so easy on tight lies. These clubs are 10-15 yards longer than my 2004 Calaway Big Bertha steel. and for the first time in my life I am able to hit a draw with the longer irons. I alos have T.M. R9 driver and 4 wood. Love them.

I would also recommend professional fitting or at least buy the club you get to hit on Demo Day if it is working for you. The new set might not have the same shaft characteristics even if they are labeled the same.(Chinese technology)

I am new to the game so I'm obviously horrible. I bought a new complete set of clubs that I was told would still be good if and when my game should improve. It is the Adams a7os senior complete set. It came with the Fastline Speed 10 driver, 3 + 5 woods, 4-8 hybrids, a 9 iron, sand + pitching wedges, putter and bag. I got it at Jim's golf shop at a really good price.

I love Taylormade woods! I have a Superfast Burner 2.0 driver (the white one, some call it the cloud or the ghost, lol) which I happened to buy
at a very good price just recently.
I have a Taylormade Burner Superfast 3-wood (the black-headed one) which I love also.
I have Callaway x-20 irons which I think are terrific!
A lob wedge came with my irons...bought them used on Ebay....and I learned
to use it and like it.
I can hit the lob wedge only about 50-55 yards (I play from the forward tees, lol) but when I have that distance, its great! Its sometimes hard to use it
at The Villages though because there is not a lot of grass sometimes so that
you feel you can get really under it.

But, having said all that about Taylormade woods, I still have my set of Callaway VFT fairway woods that I think are great! They came out about
7 or 8 years ago, but they are one of the best fairway woods that Callaway
ever came out with. You can still get a good price for them on trade-in at Callaway pre-owned web site.

I'm a 17 handicap (and it's rapidly rising). I play Adams A3OS hybrids, irons and fairway woods, all with senior shafts. Driver is a 13 degree Nike Sumo 5000. Putter is a Nike Oz. Happy with all but if I had to do it over again, I think I'd go with a little less loft on the driver (even though 13 is what the club fitting recommended.)

Greatly appreciate all the comments received. I have something more specific to go by.

Tom, I may pick you up on the offer.

I'm a 12 - and a Callaway Girl Callaway FTi Driver, 3 wood, FT 3,4,5 hybrids, FT3 Irons 6-Lob and a Scotty Cameron Detour 2 putter.

Most players in our age range should forget the long irons..if you by in a store they usually make you by a stock set which could start with a 3 or 4 iron. If you by from The Villages Golf shop you can buy the exact set you want.

Most club vendors have a pre-owned on-line store...for example Callaway Preowned.com. Very good prices.....most of my clubs come from there. I just wait 6 months for a used one.
