Default Primer / overview for potential new resident

We're presently considering moving to TV. Is there a resource (link, article, document) available that clearly explains TV golf options, terminology, and nuances?

Before I get the "use the forum search" response: I have. Either the search capability is lacking or the topic has not been discussed - which seems unlikely. I also searched TOTV using Google (via the site keyword) which was similarly lacking in results.

I understand that there are executive & championship courses. I also understand the cart trail fee to use your own golf cart. I've seen ambiguity over what exactly is included in the amenity fee vs additional out of pocket costs.

I have inferred that executive courses are included whereas championship courses are not. It does not, however, appear to be that simple. The golf rates document is loaded with abbreviations (EM, RM, EG/MM, RG, NR). Likewise waves (morning, afternoon, evening).

There is mention of a points system which seems to penalize for missed tee times and presumably other infractions (double secret probation)?

Finally there is the whole "enhancement" option which seems equally opaque to an outsider.

I would greatly appreciate any pointers. Thank you in advance.

It is a little overwhelming at first.

Start here:

Golf The Villages

Once you are here, sign up for "Good Golf School" where they take you through how everything works.

You might try asking questions in AI. In general I think you will get good answers but it is always possible some will be wrong so try and verify any answer that is important to you.

This pamphlet should answer most of your questions.

Only complaints I hear are they can’t get 3 tee times day. I came from cow pasture hard clay city courses. Playing here for me when I could play was like playing at pebble beach. IMO boils down to how well courses you’ve played on can compare. One thing this place has lots of options/courses, hard or find place with more golf holes options IMO. Sure there are other places with maybe 100 holes, can you really compare that to least count 650 plus holes available all golf cart accessible? Golfers here are spoiled IMO.

The Good Golf School can be of great assistance. However, they will also tell you about all the golf courses but won’t tell you how difficult it can be to get a tee time during snowbird season. They also won’t tell you how few courses exist south of 44 based on the population. And don’t be fooled by Pitch and Putt courses.
