Look it's quite simple...many people play the executive courses as a matter of getting out of the house and could care less about course conditions, pace of play or score.

The good golf school helps...a lot...but you won't change a 60+ year old persons mind when it concerns what they consider to be fun...not going to happen.

Be happy it's only about 1.5 to 2hrs of your life and enjoy it. As for vis a vis creates cognitive dissonance...yeah it's confusing to some who take it up late in life whether they should play fast, line up for the shot(incorrectly I might add), or talk about the latest gossip or grandkids.

It's old age and stuck in your ways golf...I love it and I played championship golf with all the usga rules invoked, 5+hr rounds and good times(for 35+yrs). This is the same only wrinklier....

Think of it this way. Pace of play on an executive course is ten minutes per hole or one and half hours per 9 holes. If every foursome took one extra minute on the first hole, after one hour hole number one would be six minutes behind. If this happens for four hours, the course would be 24 minutes behind. How would you like to be the foursome who has a 12 noon tee time and you doesn't tee off until 12:24 PM? Or the 4 PM tee time that doesn't tee off until 4:48 PM?

Pardon me, but I have no idea what Ready Golf is. Would someone please explain this to me?

Your serious? I have yet to see that but I believe you. I really don't see the need for seat belts while golfing. We have enough slow play and this would just add to it.

The short answer is who ever in your foursome is "ready" hits the golf ball. Just doing this one thing will speed up the game.

An example is the person keeping score might very well have honors but is writing down the score when arriving to the next tee box----in ready golf you would go ahead and hit first while he/she is still writing down the scores.

You pickup after triple bogey and move on to the next hole.

You park the golf cart in the correct area when near the green.

The first in your foursome to hole out retrieves the pin and is ready to put it back in as soon as the last person in your group holes out and everyone immediately moves on to the next hole.

Size up what club you want to use and if in doubt, take two or three clubs.

If you think your ball may be lost----hit a provisional ball.

This is a sketch of ready golf. Of course in Tournment play, USGA rules apply and it's a different story.

LOL. I'm thinking if you fall out your cart on a golf course you're definately doing something wrong.

Even if you play Ready Golf, it doesn't mean you play Steady Golf or Heady Golf!

The recommendation on seat belts in golf carts is that they be used on the road, not on the course. I have belts in my cart because the statistical data about golf cart injury is compelling. I don't wear them when I play, and I haven't seen anyone else wearing them during play.
