I currently have a handicap system I use in Virginia that is part of the GHIN system. I have a golfer ID number and posted handicap. For some reason, perhaps because it is under the VGA (Virginia Golf Association) it does not recognize any of the Villages courses. So I currently have to enter them manually.
Questions. And I have a Villages priority membership and a Villages.net account. 1. What is the system used in the Villages? 2. How do I set up/transfer to that system? 3. Can I be a member of both systems? Maybe use different first name, ie Sam and Samuel? 4. Is there a cost beyond those memberships? 5. If you have an established Villages handicap, how do you use that to play in non Villages member guest tournaments? Most require a club pro verification. 6. Any other useful tips or information? Thanks

Ask at any pro shop. They'll tell you how to sign up, the annual fee, etc. Can't believe you're a sage and never asked before.

Someone out there must know the answer to at least question 1 and 4.

The Villages belongs to the GHIN system.
I renew my membership at one of the pro shops during the annual renewal period, which is December to January, I think. I think your ghin number transfers to the Florida ghin system. I really thought that someone in any pro shop would be able to advise you on how to sign up there. I also believe you can get a pro to certify your handicap index once you get one here although I have never done it for an outside tournament but I think some of my friends have done it. Its been several years since I went through the process so I cant advise you with greater particularity. |

The annual fee is the same as other states....something like $15 and you
can save a few dollars if you renew early in the renewal season. |

I also believe you can be a member of both the FL GHIN system and another state, such as VA as long as you pay the membership fee in both states.
You cannot have two separate GHIN numbers. If you belong to two systems, both of your memberships will show up when someone pulls your GHIN number up. Its useful if you have to have a FL GHIN number when you want to play in a tournament in Florida, such as the FSGA one-day events and useful when you have to have a VA GHIN number when you want to play a tournament there. |

Thanks so much for the information. I will check at Palmer and get signed up. I will try to keep the same GHIN number if possible.
