Can anyone tell me if there is a game for golfers with low handicaps at the Villages? I'm wondering if you know of a group that has under 6 handicaps. This will be very important to my husband who is a 0 handicap. A game for him is a necessity not a luxury!!!!! I have to keep him happy, ya know?

Every tuesday they have many tournaments at many championship golf courses for priority golfers only. I believe they still make the teams based on level of handicap. So your husband would always be in the flight with the lowest handicaps. I also think that if he played in this he would eventually be playing with like handicaps whenever he wanted. Also they have gross and net championship tournaments a few times a year. i am only a 9.3 not in his league. If he is a scratch now he must hv been a plus years ago. good luck

Come and see and make a visit. My husband is a good (NOT scratch) golfer and plays with four different groups each week. It doesn't take long to find an enjoyable group on your level. Or close to your level.

Here are some resources I keep notes on, the last one is more like a clue in a treasure hunt
![]() A TOTV user ziggychamp used to run the Senior Amateur Tour of North Central FL. They love finding golfers with a handicap of less than three. His name is Jim and I do not know if he still runs it. If you are at Glenview look for Steven Trout (he is a manager whose office is in the golf shop). He is a very good player and very much into golf and may know of some groups. This thread is about someone starting what looks to be a fun group for low handicap players. Not sure if they did it or not: Golf Gold Tee players OK, this one sounds a bit like a directive for a spy. Go to the Mallory bar and find a bartender named Dan. He is a very good stick and plays in a group. If Dan is not around, go out to the pool and look for a gentleman attendant. He is also in the group Dan plays in. I have talked at length with him about this group and sounds like there are some pretty good players. I am embarrassed I cannot place his name.... You will have to say something like "Do you play golf with Dan..." I have no experience playing with these groups as I still work enough it is hard to commit to a group, but they are on my short list for the future. Oh who am I kidding, it is the whole list ![]() |

Thank you for your replys. He really liked the villages and we will be moving there soon but it's always a concern to find the game. Yes ricthemic, he was a plus player and was even plus earlier this year. Unbelievable for a 72 year old. Here's a funny story..... He played on the Ohio State Golf team with Jack Nicholaus back in college. In an interview a couple of years ago Jack said of his college team mates, "none of them were very good players". It was totally deflating!

If it would help you out, your husband could play a couple of rounds with me. Then he would have a MUCH higher handicap after he watched my swing! He would not have any problem finding a game then!

nevertheless that isn't always the case. I was a 2 and now I'm a 5...I was never a scratch. It's good to hear he's a plus...wouldn't mind being that good myself.
