to be "watched", you're probably getting "watched" by the group behind whether they are 10 or 30 yards away. Get over it. Are you afraid they will ridicule you?--No good golfer does that, so those who would aren't so good themselves, they just think they are. (BTW, they are probably the same golfers who are taking 2 shots, putting out 2 footers, scoring 8's and 9's on a hole and talking non-stop) Remember, no one has shot under par their first time playing (except maybe Tiger). It took Jack Nicklaus 3 years to break 70, and that was with daily play and practice and lessons from Jack Grout as a teenager---if you are a beginner, play and enjoy the game, obey the etiquette and ready golf yourself, and don't worry about the guy behind you |

If the group in front of you is a hole behind, in The Villages the last thing you want to do is to invite the group behind to play through. In The Villages I would suggest the "Pace of Play" section be written as follows: If the group in front of you is a hole ahead, pick up the ball and drop it on the green and continue from there. no penalty, just to keep the group moving The tees will never bottleneck and as golfers improve they will enjoy the game without pressure. In the "Priority on the Course" section: "Unless otherwise determined by the Committee, priority on the course is determined by a group's pace of play. Any group playing a whole round is entitled to pass a group playing a shorter round. The term 'group' includes a single player." On a champ course, my pace of play rule would be----If you catch up with the group ahead and no one is ahead of them. Go around them and skip the hole. This will also help everyone behind you. |

Seems rather simple ..........wait till the group ahead has left the tee, to move to the tee.
