A financial advisor in The Villages has been arrested on an intimidation charge.

Arthur Eugene West, 74, of the Village of Osceola Hills at Soaring Eagle, was booked without bond Sunday night at the Sumter County Detention Center on a Marion County warrant charging him with intimidation. He was taken into custody at a home in the Village of Dunedin. Details of the warrant were not immediately available.

I use AI, maybe because I am quite a savvy investor for many years.

Unlike a human financial advisor:
- AI has unlimited patience to answer your questions
- AI answers when you question its answers
- You do not have to worry of offending AI by disagreeing or questioning it advise.
- AI has no motivation to cheat you... like many financial advisors who make a living off their job.

Yes, AI, like many / most financial advisors, can make mistakes or not give the best advise.

So, like with a human financial advisor, you SHOULD ALWAYS QUESTION the advise you get. AI will have the patience to explain.

Try it for free. Or, use AI to evaluate your financial advisor advise.

How many times does this guy need to be arrested before Florida pulls his insurance license? West is the poster child as to why people need to do a thorough background check before hiring anybody who calls themselves a “financial planner”.

I would additionally advise to tell your friend to talk with a tax planning CPA before doing anything — AND especially to make sure they understand the future benefits that can come from converting IRAs to Roth, while still in the sweet spot for doing that — if that situation applies to them.

I have been looking for someone to replace Me for the past few years. I use Fidelity to do what I want to do, but even so, I am still looking for an advisor.

I think the field of financial advisory is becoming even more smoke and mirrors now as alternative investments are entering the fray. Chasing alpha is more ridiculous than ever. Some of this stuff feels kind of dot.commish to me.

I had a client who is 66 and still working ask what my recommendation was on whether she should convert $50,000 of her Traditional IRA to a Roth in 2025.

Calculated additional tax in 2025 would if $7300 (effectively a 14.5% tax rate) which would have to come out of pocket.

What would she save on taxes - the growth on the $50,000 in future years? Which was be ......? Tax rate in future years could be as low as 10% on some of the RMD -maybe zero if her other income is below the standard deduction.

But who knows what the rates will be in the future and what the standard deduction will be? And will the $12,000 additional taxable income reduction still be there for seniors?

She made the decision not to do the conversion.

Each taxpayer's decision will be different based upon age, income, life expectancy, spousal survival, expected rate of return and more.
