Hi railroadman,

It sure looks to me like you are in good company...

My man Warren Buffett has "been workin' on the railroad" too. (I know. I know. I realize that I am supposed to have a silly crush on Harrison Ford or somebody like that, but.....shameless confession time......for me.....I just love Warren Buffett and I love that he lives in that house that surprises everybody.)

Here is an article from last fall that you might like to read if you have not already seen it. There is a part of this link that says that in the previous year, "Burlington Northern Sante Fe moved, on average, a ton of goods 470 miles on a single gallon of diesel." (That little fact surprised me so much that I read it 4 times.)

It has been awhile since I looked at the railroads co. profiles, but I think I remember them as having high debt ratios and somewhat declining freight volume. I thought their stock prices a bit inflated too.

They seem to pay good dividends, and obviously, they're here to stay, so it isn't a bad investment.

As far as Warren Buffet is concerned, he made a lot of his recent money off of government mandated policies and bail-outs (insurance co., Goldman Sachs etc.), and he seems to have an "insiders" view, so my respect for him has waned a bit.

This is the reason, Warren Buffett, loves railroads. Recommended NSC 6/1/10 at $52 per share. Presently 62 per share. Stock also has a 2.4 percent dividend.
