You think that's tough?

I have to knock 2-3 inches of snow off the maple buckets when I get home tonight. Sheesh. It might take me an extra 4 or 5 seconds. By the time it's tomorrow, probably be another couple more. It's like there's this white haired frosty looking guy with icicles hanging off his nose just trying to make it a little bit harder.

Isn't it early for the maple run?

Been down here since mid November. Had an equestrian facility in Massachusetts. Boy I miss plowing driveways, shoveling out gates to paddocks, chopping ice from water buckets and just plain old freezing my butt off.

Cute, and congrats of the sports teams. Just to set things straight, people “up north”don’t even think about you. They are 0% preoccupied with people down south, whereas people down south seem to be preoccupied about people up north.

My brother, who lived in Safety Harbor, FL, had what we in Michigan would refer to as "Jim's obnoxious period." It ran from October to May, as he related his temperature and sunshine level on a weekly basis while asking us about ours. October to May is pretty much how long winter runs in Michigan. Florida was always our aim, but I swore I would never subject friends and family up north to that repulsive bragging. We only discuss with other Floridians about how lucky we are to be here!

I'm in NW New Jersey, Highland lakes. Our climate up here at elevation is colder than the rest of NJ(It's why there are two ski resorts) but for us the run starts end of Feb.
It also depends on weather. Tapped last weekend and probably got 5 gallon the next day. That said, the high temp has never been over freezing since. I expect this week we will get a decent run as it's going to be in the high 30s/low 40s during the day and below freezing at night. This is ideal for a run so next weekend will be the first boil.

We only tap 9 trees, 4 of them are doubles. Since this will be our last year at it as we are finally going full time in TV, I wanted to be sure we didn't miss any.

Typically we do up to around 2 gallons of syrup and the last of the run we use for Candy. We typically tap every other year because, frankly even after giving away a lot of syrup we still have some left from last time.

I have to disagree with you on that one. In 2010 when this was my home in Baltimore, I couldn't wait to move to Florida and I did in 2011.

Bring some south for your new neighbors. We'll be down in a couple of months. Lol
