Absolutely hilarious! Carol Burnett is one of the best!!!

I remember way back when no-frills airlines were the rage, and one take-off went something like 'Welcome to your No-Frills Airline. In the event of ditching over water, the person seated next to you will serve as your flotation device!'

Now JetBlue is charging $7 for a 'clean pillow and blanket,' U.S. Airways is charging $2 for a can of soda, and American Airlines flies nonstop from Chicago to Hawaii without serving a crumb of food other than what you can buy--like $10/sandwich. We know the airlines are in trouble--price of fuel and so forth--but geez....

Carol Burnett's skits were the best and who could out do Tim Conway. I think the next thing we will see with the no frill airlines will be a scale to weigh us at check in. Then they can charge an additional fee for anyone over there human weight limit. They also could take into account how far you are flying and add that on to the over human weight limit.

I just came back from a 3 days trip to Miami. American Airlines is a disgrace like in the last years of Pan American. I worked for 20 years on an International Airline and flying was glamourous. Forget about food, the service in general is deteriorated beyond repair (from my point of view). The oil price is BS.., they are flying full airplanes, The fly from JFK-MiIA was completely full, not a seat available. When I was waiting for the flight from MIA-JFK an after 3 gate changes a plane came in to our gate from San Juan, PR completely full. Our flight was full. They are cancelling and eliminating flights in order to pack the passengers like sardines.

Though the price of jet fuel has skyrocketed (no pun intended...), just like gasoline, and this really does have to be factored in, in truth this is exactly what the airlines are doing. There are fewer scheduled flights, and beyond this they are canceling flights to keep the remaining flights full.

We are especially disappointed with American Airlines, with which I have over a million miles (lifetime elite). Our small local airport (Stewart Newburgh) accommodated them to such a degree that one would have thought that they had some obligation, and a few years they downgraded their presence at the airport from AA to American Eagle, and last year they pulled out altogether. Now they are pulling out of Albany on November 1, 2008. I can do without airline food; HB prefers to bring our own anyway. But service? Forget it!
