A related story.

On one of our many trips to The City, I was going to surprise my wife and take her to the diamond district...to buy her a really nice diamond ring for Christmas.

I made this big production about how it was going to be a great surprise, wouldn't tell her where we were going and just basically made it out...to be a big deal.

So when we arrived in the middle of the district and I said "Ta-Da, let's find you something really nice"...she looked at me like I was an alien.

Yeah, I hadn't realized it was Saturday and given the number of Jewish businesses in the district...about +-75% of the stores were closed.

She never tires of telling people, how her cheap husband tried taking her diamond shopping in the Big Apple...on a Saturday.
