Nothing but a little story about a $20 ring.

This was my Dad’s ring. My parents were married in 1951. This ring was a Christmas gift to my Dad from my Mom soon after they were married.

In the spring of 1952, my mom secretly went to a jewelry store and put this ring on a Christmas lay away plan. This ring cost about $20 originally. My mother had to pay the jewelry store $2 every month throughout the year to have the ring paid off before Christmas.

I was born in 1959 and throughout my life I can remember my Dad wearing his ring whenever an important occasion occurred.

My Dad passed away in 1992 from cancer. My Mom gave me the ring. Throughout my life I have upheld his tradition of wearing it to significant family events. I have worn it as my 2 daughters got married. It was with me for countless holiday family get togethers, numerous high school and college graduations, grandchildren's births, anniversary dinners and also at various random occasions that I just felt had some merit of one kind or another.

This ring is absolutely priceless to me.

Well last night I got the ring out so that I could wear it today to my last throat cancer treatment. As the treatment ended, I thought about my Dad and how he was probably smiling right then about me and his $20 ring.

Thanks to everyone for their care, concern and words of support during my journey for the past 3 months. I certainly appreciate it. The ring will come out 12 weeks from now when I go to get scanned to verify that I’m cancer free.

Wow. I can't believe you're done with treatment already. I'm sure it seemed a lot longer to you than it did to the rest of us. I am so happy for you that it's done. Hoping for stellar results in three months.

What's the ETA on taste bud recovery? That has to be NOTHING but a great thing to look forward to. Let the cheese tasting begin!

My Doc said that in 2 to 3 weeks the sensation of taste and also my appetite would probably start to come back

I actually haven't had nothing much to eat other than watered down small curd cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, some tapioca pudding and sips of water for over 40 days now. I’m down about 35 lbs.

(*I only add this last bit of information as a caution for anyone who happens to be standing in front of the refrigerator door when my appetite returns... they may want to consider moving to the side a bit.... )

Hey Spoiler, you are NOTHING but the man. Offer still stands. Just give me the word Thunderbird.

I have some bad news though. That 35 LBS you misplaced I think I found some of it.

I love the Story of The Ring. So thrilled for you and Mrs. Spoiler.

Thank you sir. And I will be calling you on the offer.

I‘m thinking it may be in January. I should be nothing but hungry by then....

Good Morning. I think I'm gonna NOTHING but call out today and spend the day doing other things. I saw a post today about many different areas of The Villages being JUDGED by someone new and instead of fighting I'll let someone else handle it.

If you are a Praying person how about a little favor and send a prayer for a dear friend in NJ who is really lumped up physically and for all those who are hurting. Thanks.

Sorry about your friend. I will absolutely, nothing but remember him or her in my prayers.

You are such a good man, I hope you get the credit (Karma) you are due.

Talking

Yesterday at the Oxford, Walmart got Blu-Rays for Argo, The Departed and Black Mass for $5 out of a bin full of $5 DVD or Blu-Rays. NOTHING but quite a buy. Three Blu-Rays for $5. Argo (2012) - Rotten Tomatoes

Remember talking a lot about Argo with the people at Doggie Doo Run Run when that movie came out. Quite a lot of opinions involved.

I decided to only take a half of a day off NOTHING but Joy To The World her I is!

WATCH THE DEPARTED FIRST. It is amazing! You may have to watch it twice. It's a little complicated even for the formerly criminally-minded! At least that's what I heard.

Barb, it's true, Nucky is NOTHING but a good guy.
And I'd be happy to pray for Nucky's dear friend is NJ who is ill.

Spoiler, that is NOTHING but a beautiful story about your Dad's ring.
And that you only wear it on special occasions.
It will surely be a special occasion when you receive your "cancer free" verification.

35 lbs is NOTHING to sneeze at.
Most of us would like to lose 10 to 30 lbs, but not the way you did.
It's great news that your doctor thinks that in 2 to 3 weeks, your
sensation of taste and also your appetite will come back!
Watch out Culvers ice cream!

I used to weigh about 135lbs when in high school but started taking weight-lifting at the University of Nevada, Reno and joined a married woman's gym in Reno. She was the daughter of a co-worker, Joan, of my mother in a school for special education students. My mother taught special ed students. And Joan's daughter had later married a guy who owned a gym. She was about my age though. Married young.

Was on my way gradually to the NOTHING but around 200 lbs I now weigh but a lot of that is muscle in my legs, arms, and back. Walked a lot around the hills of Belmont, CA when I lived there in 1984-1986. Very pretty place with low hills of the San Francisco Peninsula.

I could lose 35 lbs myself but would not want to do it the way of an illness. I do hope you will recovery quickly Spoiler.
