I remember that the Spoilers decided not to go over to the big city (Charlotte, NC) for NYE ‘2000 in case there was confusion in getting home with no traffic lights or whatever. We went to a Japanese steakhouse in our small town with our oldest daughter and son-in-law. Daughter was expecting at the time with our first granddaughter that finally arrived on Feb 29th 2000 (a true leap year baby).

During that new year’s eve time, I directed a workforce at an aircraft repair facility and I had some maintenance guys scheduled to be there at midnight to check for damage or failures. They reported NOTHING.

As we all know now, turns out the whole deal was the great Y2K hoax cooked up by the IT guys that wanted to make lots of overtime for a year or two.... LOL

(And for the record, the granddaughter will celebrate her 5th real birthday this February again on the 29th... She is doing well...)

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE. WISHING YOU ALL NOTHING BUT A HAPPY, HEALTHY, SAFE AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR

I see that it is NOTHING but Sir Anthony Hopkins birthday today December 31. He is on page 621 of the 12th Edition, 1995 of Marquis Who's Who in the World. I am on page 622 in the same Edition. Bob Hope is also on page 621.

Pretty neat. I bought the volume back then when we lived in Rohnert Park, CA and were about 300 feet from movie production trailers that would often be at the Red Lion Inn. They had some kind of deal with the Red Lion Inn as there were there if my memory serves me right for all the time my parents lived in Rohnert Park (1986-1996). I was there on-and-off while living and working or going to school in the Twin Cities.

The book entry is about my 224 613 Project I expect as that was pretty much all I was doing from late 1991 onward even if I did not start using 613 until late 1992 when I started as subject #613 at the University of California, San Francisco Health Sciences Campus in a study they were conducting on stress on the unemployed.

I would use this 12th Edition of Marquis Who's Who in the World often to write people some of these did have their work addresses in them . I am listed in other of these Marquis Who's Who in the World volumes among 13 other Editions of various works by them.

I had some very odd talks with strangers while avoiding the duck poop around the golf course that bordered our back yard and separated the Red Lion Inn from us. Would walk my pooch around the Red Lion Inn and other places. She was a rather square looking cocker spaniel.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all my fellow do-nothings a wonderful, safe and healthy New Year and for all of 2020. DH and I will be joining Nucky in spirit in our efforts to stay awake past 10pm. LOL

I have not made it past 12:00 AM New Year's Day in NOTHING but many years in the span from 2000 through now. Usually down-and-out by 11:30 PM.

The past 4 years or so we always had progressive dinners with 7 other couples on New Years Eve. It always started at noon. Each house was visited for 90 minutes and each had a drink, an appetizer, a part of the meal or desserts... or more drinks...

That sounds NOTHING but nice. Our neighbor came by to drop off food today as his freezer is on the blitz. That is probably the only neighbor who will come by on New Year's Eve. Otherwise, it will be quiet.

So far, I mowed, blowed, and weeded earlier today and then got me a haircut. Then as this is our first New Years night here, I did got some us dinner reservations for 8pm. And we might just go to a square before that also. I still can’t really taste anything, but going out should be fun anyhow.

Other than that it should be fairly quiet and we will watch the festivities at midnight tonight on the ‘ole 19” Philco here in the front parlor.

Nothing much planned other than that...

Here we are on the 2nd anniversary of this thread. Who woulda thunk we'd still have NOTHING to say?

I would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year. May NOTHING hold you back from your dreams.

2 Years since NOTHING but post #2 about Mary Ann. We've seen a whole lot of people who kept it lively. Here's to All The Good Things.

Just had dinner at Demshar's. It was great.

Happy New Year To All!

Reminds me of the show about nothing...became very popular and still is. It really was about nothing in particular, just reflections on daily life. Sometimes simple things can be very rewarding.

Agreed, and often nothing is the best reward of all.

Happy New Year and new decade too to the NOTHING crowd.

Stuber and the sound of fireworks outside --near and far-- brought in the New Year 2020.
