I did pass German and Dutch at the U of MN and got the award for Best Reader of French at the University of Nevada, Reno. Had taken a year of Spanish during a few nights each week at the College of San Mateo in CA. And audited Chinese, Japanese and Russian at the U of MN too. This work does help me on FunTrivia when they start throwing in questions about various words in one of these languages. |

I used to drive around Lake Tahoe rather often. Quite a beautiful drive when you drive all the way around it. |

I just found Nucky’s answer to the question I asked him this morning.
Woo! Took me a few pages to find it. Sometimes this thread goes so fast, it’s nothing but a blur. Anyway, finally found it and was happy to hear — er, read his answer, and that he really liked his English teacher and the class. About high school typing class though — ug — nothing ever made a difference. No matter what I did, I could never get past 35 wpm. Can’t remember what a good wpm was. I just know it was not within my range of even a remote possibility. It was nothing but miraculous though when later on while going to school, I met a fine man in one of my classses. He was going to school on the GI Bill. That man had an IBM Selectric typewriter. I could knock out papers, first draft, final copy — all-in-one. That man changed my life. |
