My dad's biggest complaint when he was in assisted living is how he felt imprisoned because without a car there was no place he could go. Here they are all golf cart or walking distance from stores and restaurants and activities. This is NOTHING but the best place to transition and have quality of life.

Couldn't agree more, fw. Although we have some very nice facilities right out our back door here as well, you still have to deal with the weather, and believe me they cost an arm and a leg.......and no golf carts - lol
And K, don't feel bad, my husband and I have had the same conversation. Just because one has children doesn't mean you can always count on them. We've decided it's best to count on our son for NOTHING. For all we know, he won't even be living in this country at that time so we know better than to put all our eggs in that basket. I plan to have the place I want to go should I need assistance picked out and planned for well in advance.
