Default TV Trivia - 3

OK, as requested here is a new quiz.

1. On The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, who played Maynard G. Krebs? What did the G stand for?

2. And, of course, another Gunsmoke question. What was the name of Matt’s horse (and no it isn’t Kitty.)

3. What year did Monday Night Football start? Who were the original announcers?

4. The actor Jimmy Stewart served in the Armed Forces in WWII. What branch? What was ultimately his highest rank in the service?

5. Who were the original cast members of The Carol Burnett Show?

6. Which Muppet was the first to receive national fame on TV? What show?

7. What TV show always began with, “There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission…..?”

8. How many current or past presidents appeared on “Rowan and Martin's Laugh In”? Can you name them?

9. Who played the sidekick Kato on the TV show, The Green Hornet?

10. OK, here is an obscure one: What show did The Banana Man appear on? What did he do?

Good luck.

Impressive answers so far. Couple still not right.

I'm particularly impressed with The Banana Man. I mostly remember him making great baloon animals, and going, "wooooowwww" really slowly.

Really surprised that Vicky Lawrence was there from day one. She just seemed too young to have been there from the beginning to the end.

Only Tricky Dick, eh? Will definitely remember that piece of trivia.

Absolutely refused to watch Captain Kangaroo and finding out that Clarabelle the Clown was the Captain. I loved Clarabelle and cried when he said good-bye on Howdy Doody. CK started, someone told me he was Clarabelle (probably my brother) and that was that -- no CK in our house. lol

Of course, my brother also told me that The Mickey Mouse Club was a Communist plot to take over the minds of American children so he could watch American Bandstand. Think our parents were relieved when we went back overseas just so there wasn't the constant bickering over the television.

(Do you get the feeling that some of us really like trivia? lol)

So, when do we get the next installment?

I didn't know that Keeshan was Clarabelle. I always thought it was Willard Scott. In briefly looking at cannot confirm that Scott ever was, although lots of people say he was. Weird.

I wasn't much of a Howdy Doody fan. But I was loyal to the Captain.

I'll have to work up some more. I'm just doing these off the top of my head. I may have to do some research.

Turns out there were three Clarabells according to Wikipedia (Clarabell the Clown - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Keeshan was the first. "Nick" Nickerson was the second and Lew Anderson was the third. Never heard of Scott being accused of being Clarabell. But, then, never knew there was anyone but Keeshan playing Clarabell.

Happy hunting.
