Default Unusual or funny epithets

I often think of family members and the funny, odd, or unusual way they expressed themselves. My favorite uncle always said when something was going awry: Lord save us said miss Davis My father's standby was Hello dick and my grandmother, who grew up speaking German Ach du lieber which translates to Oh dear!

I use the quote "Just Ducky" when I'm asked how things are going.

I have a favorite alliteration. Say it often enough and I either start giggling and/or wondering about my sanity. It is: "You sorry sack of Siberian sheep sh*t."

Being a good Army brat, I know many good expletives in many languages. Get me really and truly angry and they come spewing out at once. My daughter thought it was hysterical and would do her best to get me royally angry when she was in her pre- and early teens just to hear me splutter (fortunately, most of the words are totally un-understandable).

My aunt used to say, "fine" as she was raised in tough times and she figured no one wanted to hear her troubles anyway.

I sometimes used my version of Italian and translated means, "OMG, this person is going to make me bust". People think I am cursing but I am not.

I have three brothers and this made more sense for them, but my Dad used to say to all of us when we were kids: "It's good for you-- puts hair on your chest."

I remember my father saying this when he tried to get us to take a drink.of wine, (pre teen years).

My aunt and uncles used to drink wine like it was grape juice but never to excess. A couple of glasses and i'm ready to go to sleep.

One of my friends, when asked how he was, always responded "Can't complain, no one will listen".

Another thing I always remember and try to adhere to is: How are you is a greeting, not a question.

I can't count the number of times when I was working in a large company walking down a corridor and someone asked me that and before I could respond I was several feet past them as I walked very fast. "Fine" is the answer as they didn't want to hear anyone who wanted to complain.
