I have a large Agava plant which has grown several "pups". However, this odd root, or sprig, has emerged from the soil and I don't know what it is. I looked on the internet, and there is a Swan neck variety of Agava, but the root (?) Having lived in VA for 40 plus years, I am on a learning curve with Floridian plants.

ooooooooooooh, thank you for telling me about the leaf issue. I was given the plant when it was being tossed out by landscapers, but obviously it came without instruction

thank you for the link, but if you look at the photo I posted, the sprig, or above ground root, is entirely different from the pups. I've already removed the pups, but this thing looks like an above ground root. Any idea what it is? I've searched the internet, but cannot find a photo to match my mystery.

Don't know about that, but do know that the blue Agava makes some really great tequilla.
