Default What will that look like in February?

I'd love to see a photo of that area next February. The selloum philandendrons under the queen palms will probably be totally trashed, the Chinese Fan Palm will probably be all brown, the double Phoenix Roebilini will also be trashed or dead, and if those are crotons in the middle, they'll be dead as a doornail. Looks good now though!

Wow, Tom, did you get up on the wrong side of the bed today???? I suggest you go back and rotate 180....
What's the purpose of such a nasty remark??? I'd like to see a picture of your landscaping so I could tell you that I think it stinks!!! That is not a nice thing to say today on such a glorious, beautiful day in the Villages... Are you sure you belong here???

I think you are new in these parts. Partner...I say get nicer or the posse is gonna come after youse.

Come on now ....are you the competition??? That landscaping will be even more beautiful, if possible, later on. Wassa matta you????

People are so proud of their yards and justifiably so. That just wasn't nice at all.

(Steve) oops Tom, may have a point on at least these two, but I'm not 100% sure?

If they are Crotons which are often is grown as a houseplant, but in tropical regions it grows into a small tree outdoors.
This plant is frost tender, so outdoor plants can die in winter.

philodendrons prefer moderate to high light

Wow! Now you've done it Tom. You have garnered the attention of the posse. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Maybe it is just a warning.

Love you Gracie.

Jimbo.. who's Steve???? It was Tom who was the rude poster. And, then again, he may be correct, but its the manner in which it was stated, rude, obnoxious and mean and we don't need that stuff on here. The person who's landscaping it is, paid a good price for it, and its always easy to second-guess another person's decision. But give constructive criticism not rude remarks,,, unless of course, you are the competition????

Tom are you the competition? Sounds like sour grapes to me. Recently a friend found out that McGowan's complained to TV that a his landscape job including curbing was too close to the street and needed to be removed. After much pain and suffering by the owner it was ruled that it was just fine. Not nice... Crotons are universally used in TV for color and can be covered during a cold snap. Mine lived very nicely all Winter.

Funny but competitors know the regulations better than others, kinda natural.

Guy sounds like he understands his plants? Maybe Gracie he fell backwards into a Burdock Bush and now has to have the burr removed?

Default Certainly didn't mean to be "rude"!

Wow! Had no idea my comments would be received this way. I have no connection to any landscaping businesses. I was simply pointing out that although things look great now, after a couple nights where the temp falls below 20 degrees, your landscaping won't look so hot when you have numerous plants that are not particularly cold tolerant.

Based on my research and my observation of plants/trees in this community, selloums, crotons, Chinese Fans, and Roebillinis are not very cold tolerant and will suffer damage that will be very apparent if we get a strong cold snap. This winter was not indicative of a normal season here, certainly compared to recent winters past.

So I apologize to anyone who was offended. Maybe my problem is that I moved here after spending the last 28 years combined in Sarasota and St. Pete/Clearwater, and am disappointed I can't have the tropical yards I'm used to having...
