There are a few houses on my street adorned with plastic flowers. We're not allowed to put up statues and such so I wonder if this is allowed. I believe they were put there with the best of intentions, to cheer things up, but they strike me as being a bit tacky.
What do you think about plastic flowers being put out in a front yard? Are you for or against? |

With all of the wonderful real flowers out there why would one want plastic flowers? I think they are tacky and my guess is that they may not be allowed, but you may want to ask someone with some authority about that.

Like anything else, plastic flowers are only tacky if they are in someone else's yard.

with all of the plants and flowers that are so easy to grow here in florida i find it so odd that anyone would put artificial plants in the landscape.
(pull them out under cover of darkness)...! |

Plastic flowers in pots on their porch? Plastic flowers in their flower beds? How do you know they are plastic? Did you trespass onto their property to find out? Why do you care? Seriously, why do you care?

There are some lovely Silk flowers in our 'hood. Since the person is no longer able to tend to real flowers... ...they have silk ones arranged nicely. Says it brings back memories of days past... ...when they had a lovely yard and could tend to it. I am not going to turn them in...("live and let live") ...their "Silks" look much better than some flower beds. Another plus...theirs need much less watering. |

I hate plastic flowers they look stupid anywhere but outside they look absurd! I would offer to plant real ones if they were on my street-heck I would even weed them!!!

Here's a thought ...
I never thought much about it before my neighbors left to go up north for the summer but they placed silk flowers in their two large pots in front of the garage. Very colorful and festive. My guess is, after last years real flowers only made it for about two weeks, they decided to add some color with silk/plastic ones until they get back. There's more things for me to care about than someone elses fake flowers. I see so many tacky things in all neighborhoods. All in all, The Villagers keep their properties in great condition compared to other areas. Last edited by Phanatic Luvr; 06-05-2013 at 08:18 AM. |

Plastic flowers are best kept in the back yard, your neighbour's back yard. In my opinion.

I can only imagine that most 'silk' flowers are actually some sort of chemical material? I don't think they are real silk due to costs. But I know what you mean and they do look nice. Wouldn't want to see a whole yard of them but on walkways they may have a place.
