Default Spring has sprung...

here in Michigan, but when we move to TV in an year and a half, what can we expect? Will I see trees in blossom? When? I know I will need to give up on tulips unless I put them in the fridge for a month or 2, (the deer up here get more than I ever see, anyway!) but what other changes can I expect? I've always wanted a Magnolia tree or another similar tree, will I be able to have one now, or will it be too warm?

I love flower gardening and plan to do it nearly year round down there but what do I grow?

I have a birthday coming in the summer and am going to ask for a native plants of Florida book. Any suggestions for landscaping?

We have a lot in Buttonwood and will be down in July to pick out finishes , etc - are there different landscaping packages or do we get what we get??

So many questions!

You guys are great - any help will be filed away for future reference!

CherylnCliff--about a year ago, my wife (Deb) and I went to one of the water conservation programs at one of the rec. centers.
In addition to many sprinkler/irrigation companies on hand, there were a couple booths from some of the villages garden clubs. I think these are the people we will connect with when we begin to plant. Good luck on your home.....Joe/Deb Brown, Kalamazoo, Mi soon to be TV!!!

Just a quick little note to remind you about the Truman Gardening program that is scheduled for this Monday, April 19, 2010 @9:30am.

Come and join us to hear Jim Davis, Extension Agent from the University of Florida, Sumter County. He will share his expertise on the topic of “Perennial Flowers, Shrubs, and Crepe Myrtle” that will grow in our climate. He will answer questions about frost damage, adding color to your landscape and what will survive a cold winter.

You do not need to sign up in advance. Just show up.

Thank you, Jean.

.Hope this helps---Deb and Joe Brown
