By the time THEY get it together it will be too late to reverse the damage for the people that pay their own insurance. Truth is THEY want to totally take over healthcare. And THEY do such a good job at running a business.

Ever wonder who "They" is? "They" say blah, blah, blah.

IMO.... most people do not understand healthcare financing or the relevant issues.
The other issue, is that some, actually many, attribute their access to healthcare insurance to something they did or did not do. The best most people can claim is they happened to end up with it... in most cases through no care or effort of their own! Someone else laid it in their hands. They were lucky enough... so far, to not have it taken away from them! |

I do hope that whoever winds up with the various documents I sent the ObamaCare people in London, KY authenticate these documents to make sure that these are from the agencies, people, etc. on the various letterheads. Some of these responses were unbelievable to me. They do tell a fascinating story. I hope I do not come across as being narcissistic in all this as I am but one of the people in this drama and probably --in my own eyes-- not one of the major ones. My goal, of course, with sending in the application is affordable health care for myself. |

I had a conference call yesterday morning (April 10, 2014) and basically that just went over what I had submitted a few months ago on January 15, 2014. They did not mention my @120 survivors/victims rights documents but did want a notarized letter about my expected finances in 2014 as well as a copy of my birth certificate. Can you believe it is $10.00 to get a letter notarized!!! I had to modify it a bit after notarization so I just initialed it. I had written down that I get a monthly allowance when I really meant weekly. I do get flustered when the government comes a calling. I had no idea they would call yesterday so was quite discombobulated when they did. I could hardly talk right. And, it is kind of hard to predict how much money you are going to make in the future. I just mentioned my weekly allowance as well as the various gifts I got for my birthday (2-24-1959) and Christmas. I am usually kind of flush-- for me-- around the first of the year. I wonder how the State of Florida is going to handle my extended story if it comes to that??? |

Taltarzac - Why are you making this more complicated than it needs to be? If you are just looking for health car coverage, apply and get it. My husband is 64 - has had three heart attacks - was dropped from Aetna in 2012 and )thank God for the fact they can no longer judge on pre-existing conditions), picked up Florida blue Cross/blue Shield at the rate of 400.00 per month. This is NOT through the government Affordable Health Care Act (healthcare.gov). This is by calling an insurance broker and getting insured. THAT SIMPLE. I am 50 with high BP (medicated) and mine is under 300.00 per month.
It's out there …all you have to do is call them. Not send 110 pages of history. |

there are some benefits like eliminating pre existing conditions.
And for the sake of example let us just focus on that one aspect. It is less than one year in effect. The insurance companies are happily signing up folks they would not have in the past. The premiums, at this point do not seem to far afield if at all. HOWEVER, as the claim incident rates start to climb...and they most certainly will with pre existing conditions they did not cover before......and as the serious claims in that mix increase....the payout by the insurance company will increase, substantially and if the insurance companies want to maintain their current level of profitability they can only raise premiums. These increasing claims over the years is what has literally priced health insurance out of almost all company benefit programs in the USA. That same incident rate will be the cause of many insurance companies eventually rolling over and ceasing to exist. Some believe this will eventually lead to only one source for coverage.....the US government. The above is not speculation. It is a fact born by historical evidence. And remember the above is based upon only one aspect of the new law. The coverage any of us have today is the best and least expensive it will ever be. |

A single payer system a la Medicare appears to be the natural progression towards universal health care. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out. In the meanwhile we can look to Massachusetts to see how their plan worked as it mirrors the ACA.

Tal, head to BCBS of Florida and check their rates. I think your window for the ACA is closed until November. |

From what I've read, the original 2006 Massachusetts law did not contain cost controls, which were added back in 2013. The Affordable care act has had cost controls built in right from the beginning.
