Not according to their website. I tried to get medical insurance but could not afford their rates for Florida according to the web-site. So, I wanted to explain my lack of resources to the Federal Government and hoped that they would authenticate the documents I had sent them AND help me convince the State of Florida to put me on Medicaid. The woman I talked to in a phone call a few weeks ago thought I had a good chance. I suppose it would be best if I could afford medical insurance on my own but I am not there yet.

If not, I will probably have to pay the fine. It should help me find some kind of work though if I can explain why there is such a huge gap in my work history. I never had the resources to authenticate these documents myself. The Federal Government should have these resources.

Remember that I fought rather hard to get information of a practical nature into libraries or accessible through libraries from 1991 through 2005 or so. I kind of threw in the towel after we moved to the Villages in 2005. I had based why I was fighting so hard on my own experiences with the Michelle Mitchell murder on my birthday of 2-24 in 1976 in Reno, Nevada and my failure to find much of any real practical value. I tried to get an international dialog after 1993 about this niche and attempted to bring in every one and any one who might be affected by violent crime. That included many associations, celebrities, large companies, etc. I tried to put a public health spin on it after being involved with a 17 week study at the University of California San Francisco Health Campus as subject #613 in 1992-1993. I wrote hundreds of thousands of e-mails about my experiences from 2000 through 2005 or so. One of these popped up on a student blog of a major Boston area university in 2011 even though I sent this in 2003. Remember that my training is as a Law Librarian and I had cataloged all the computer files on WESTLAW for a National Project from 1988 through 1991 while at the University of Minnesota Law Library.

Last month my Athem insurance took a big price jump. Well I called the agent and requested quotes for a different policy. She sent 2 that looked pretty good so I called her to pick one. To my surprise they will not be available until October/November. She said under the ACA all new policies aren't available to then. I asked why and she said it is in the ACA. I guess I should of read the ACA?????

It is normal for companies that have health insurance for their employees to have enrolment periods. You can make changes or keep it the same at that time. After that period is over you have to wait until the next one, usually one year. I guess the ACA is the same.

I am not with any company. I have been paying my own way for 38 years. We have always been able to shop and buy a new policy anytime. Now I am told by the agent no new policies are available until November, per the ACA. This just isn't right for private business to be put on hold until November.

Most of the taxes associated with this bill have been delayed. That includes the old "Cadillac" tax. Many surprises for sure.

According to CNN, this is a terrible scandal perpetuated by Veterans Affairs managers. To imply that this would happen to the entire country under the Affordable Care Act, is, in my opinion, a little far fetched. Of course there are going to be glitches as this huge, new system rolls out, but in time things will work out.

I wish you were right, but you aren't. I talked to another Athem agent and there is nothing can be done until after the 1st of November, you know what is going on there, unless they cancel my policy. I have a friend that got a letter from Athem that he is being canceled in November. All he can do is shop for a new policy, but can't buy it until November. Maybe I can get some old policy from a cut-rate company, but that is all and not sure about that. Check your agent. The 2 I spoke said this is the new ACA government law.
