Default Another departure - Dr Eburuche

Saw a legal notice in 6/11 Daily Sun that Dr Carmelita Eburuche is closing her practice as of 6/12 and transferring patients to Dr Vivian Woodward.

I switched to her 6+ years ago when another primary left the area...mainly based on recommendations here and, at that time, a dearth of PCPs in the area.

Sorry to see her go, but, not surprised. As a single practicioner, I think she lost a lot of patients to Villages Health. She could also be a little abrupt but I was pleased with her care and that I could get in if I ever needed an immediate appointment.

I called the office....they indicated that she has already relocated to South Carolina.

I have been intrigued by Villages Health but stayed with Dr E because I was satisfied and had some loyalty to her. So much for that.

Anyway, just wanted to let others know who might be patients of hers as there was absolutely no prior notice.

I'm not surprised, 07, I was going to her when I first arrived and thought she was a good doctor but her abrupt attitude and difficulty communicating with her turned me off so badly, I left her practice. Last time I went to her, she was so nasty and questioning what I was telling her that I was so turned off. Too bad, she could've been great. Liked her staff though, especially the receptionist.

While it's sad to hear of any Doctor leaving the area, I think her former patients will be very Happy with Dr. Woodward. I stumbled on her 3 yrs ago. While here on vacation I needed a doctor on my NE medical plan. Dr. Woodward was on a short list of participating doctors. I liked her qualification, she is Harvard trained internist, so I gave her a try. I found her to be very professional and very personable. Her staff is friendly, helpful and responsive. Now that I'm a TV regular she will definitely by my GP. FYI - thankfully I haven't needed to see Dr. Woodward this year, she nor her staff has no knowledge of this post ;-)

My wife and I used to go to her based upon recommendations on this site. She may be competent but her attitude turned us away after 5 years. Just look at all of the signs or should I say warnings she had posted in her lobby. She seemed not to listen to what you were telling her. It was always a battle to get her to listen to your problems. 75% of the conversation was about how she did not like The Villages, managed care and The Villages Health. She was not available evenings, nights and weekends including Fridays. She did not have staff privileges at the hospital. She would not fit into a group practice setting. Glad to see she is moving on.

Her leaving has made me do what I wanted to do and was too lazy to do.....find another doctor. I'm now looking into Villages Healthcare.

Dr.Ebruche was our first doctor when we moved here in 2007. My husband never liked her. Initially I was happy with her, but she stopped listening, was very sarcastic and at my last appointment with her she never even touched me ( listen to heart, lungs, etc). After leaving her we were with Dr. Horner for several years. She retired in April. We are staying with Village Health and are basically pleased.

Out of curiosity, what were the signs warning about? House rules?

My wife and I joined Dr Eburuche's Practice when we moved to the Villages 2 years ago and we have been VERY satisfied with her and were sorry she's leaving. Thought about signing with The Villages health care until we discovered it was an HMO Advantage plan.

The villages health system is not an HMO, although it does except United Healthcare's HMO insurance. The VHS accepts many different health insurances which allow you to choose your doctors and facilities.

Has anyone had experience with Dr. Hildner with the Village Healthcare at Creekside Landing?

here's the bad news---GET USED TO IT!!!!. Sounds like this particular physician had some communication issues that put her at a disadvantage in a competitive environment, however, it is estimated that out of 900,000 practicing clinicians in the US, 250,000 will leave in the next 3-5 years due to early retirement or alternative careers. Primary reason---overburdening government and insurance regulation. It's not only Obamacare, even though this may be the worst law ever passed, but the entire mindset that big government can do it better. They can't.
I am retiring next week, about 5 years early, primarily due to spouse's health concerns, but there is nothing in the current environment to keep me working. Like most of my colleagues, I have 13 years grade school, 4 years pre-med, 4 years medical school , 3 years Internal Medicine residency, and 28 years experience in primary care. Board certified NBME, ASIM, and professor of medicine at a medical school, so I think I have some idea of the situation. Medicine cannot be practiced by algorithm, if it could, we'd all be visiting a computer; judgment is a huge factor. Maybe it's ego, but most of us have better judgment than some GS7 sitting in a bureaucratic cubicle, making patient care decisions. Healthcare reform should have enhanced patient care, not hinder it, but then again that was never the goal of Obamacare anyway. 94% of physicians do a good job, 6% are either impaired or incompetent---I'm afraid we have thrown out the baby with the bathwater, and a quarter million other physicians apparently agree

My wife and I also signed up today and have our first apt. in August. They have very few doctors accepting new patients and we had to use Colony for an opening since our first choice Pinalles wasn't taking any new patients. I believe each doctor is limited to 1500 patients.
