I had the premium lenses implanted. ($6000) I could not be more pleased with the results. I can see far, medium and close -up. This was the best investment that I have made in a long time. I can see the small disclaimers on the tv commercials and my night driving has been greatly improved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Reply to mwatt000: Was your surgery performed here in The Villages or out-of-state?

Had Dr Ireland do mine and was pleased. I had mono vision (1 close 1 far) and avoided the 6000 extra charge and see great far and up close without cheaters. Did a 2 week trial with contacts first to make sure I could adjust ok since I hadn't wore mono vision contracts for 20 years. Not everyone can.

Agree, st. Luke's LSL. Medicare will usually pay for most of it and you get the corrective lens, only need reading glasses. Takes about 6 mins after you get set up. All done within 2 hours or less usually.

The last time I went to my appointment with Dr. Wehrly I waited over two hours. I'm thinking of changing doctors just for that reason. His waiting room is always packed. I don't know why they overbook. I like what I'm hearing about Dr. Ireland. Do you get in at the time of your appointment? I don't mind waiting up to 30 minutes, but two hours seems a bit excessive!

Besides blurred vision, what are the symptoms?

I second Dr. Holman of Lake Eye. I'm sure there are many docs that do good work, cataracts, knees, hips are part of The Villages lifestyle so most docs get plenty of practice and experience. The surgical technology is so advanced that unless there are extenuating circumstances, cataract surgery is pretty easy and safe.

Glare is a biggie. We often saw cataracts that didn’t look too bad, but the patient complained bitterly about vision impairment. We had a small instrument that simulated sunlight brightness yet allowed the patient to view the chart. Many times they showed a significant drop in vision under daylight conditions that didn’t show up in the reduced lighting of the exam room. They became candidates for extraction.

Make sure to understand everything thoroughly before agreeing to surgery. It took me a while to understand because I am severely nearsighted in one eye and severely farsighted in another. I will still need prescription glasses afterwards. I am 77 and did not want to spend money on premium lenses. I do not mind wearing glasses anyway and besides others tell me I look better with glasses because they cover my bags!
Also do not paint any room. Colors will look brighter after surgery than before. |
